Owning multiple copies of RPG books

Don't ask that question on the Acaeum boards.

So let's see. I own 2 or 3 copies of the AD&D 2E DMG and PHB each. (one of each is very worn) Other duplicates of the older stuff have gone to ebay or will soon.

I do own duplicates of a few choice items that I see as investments. (For example I couldn't pass up the shrinked RAR in my FLGS even after I already had one.)

I do have multiple copies of certain RPG books, particularly ones where I know I'll want to run it and have to provide at least one table copies for players who are too cheap/unable to pick up a copy of their own.

Shadowrun 4th Ed. (Core book & 20th Anniversary Edition)
Star Wars RPG (Revised & Expanded, WEG D6)
AD&D 2nd Edition (original & black-spine copies of all three core books)
HackMaster Basic

I also have a copy of the brown cover G1: Steading of the Hill Giant Chieftain in addition to owning G123: Against the Giants. Finding G1 at Half-Price Books for $8 was too good to pass up. I acquired a complete copy (in very good-near mint condition) of Mayfair's City-State of the Invincible Overlord that way, too (for $15).

I have generally owned a couple of copies of the PHB for all the editions but other than that not intentionally.

That being said, I will sometimes by something I am iffy about as a PDF and then if I decide to actually run it buy the book.

Do you own multiple copies of some of your RPG books?

Interesting question.

(1) I own two AD&D1 PHBs and two AD&D1 DMGs. (Purchased a second set while the first set was in storage. I have never actually played AD&D1.)

(2) I won two D&D3 PHBs. (Used to own three, but I gave one away recently.)

(3) I own two copies of Ghostbusters because I forgot I owned the first one (it had gone into storage almost immediately after I bought it).

(4) I won two copies of Creature Collection (got a second one as a gift).

(5) I own dupes of several modules that were packaged in the 25th Anniversary Collection from TSR (which I purchased for the modules I didn't have). Like you, I also seem to have accumulated multiple copies of X1 and B2 over the years.

(6) I own the original boxed set of Traveller and the FFE single volume reprint edition.

(7) I apparently own two copies of the Shiki module for GRG's Sengoku. It was a great adventure, but I have no idea why I own two copies of it.

I find having multiple copies of a core rulebook at the table very, very, very useful. But what I'm more likely to do these days is to purchase copies of as gifts for my players.
