Oye! All this content is getting merged in to General Discussion

This forum was the non-D&D d20 (and later OGL) forum, and was reclassified as an all purpose non-D&D RPG forum a while ago (last year? 2008?).

D&D Legacy was the 3e forum, until a few weeks ago, when it became the D&D Legacy forum. Pathfinder has its separate forum because there was quite a bit of Pathfinder-specific stuff when it came out & was the New Hotness. (Some days, half the active threads in this forum are actually 3e or Pathfinder threads, which is weird.)

I think the problem with lots of separate boards is that many boards end up with little or no traffic, and that tends to generate self-reinforcing feedback. If a board gets little traffic, people will stop checking it; so when there's a new post, it will get few replies; eventually, people stop posting, because there won't be much (or any) interest or replies. Then the topics of those particular boards become dead on the whole site, and folks go elsewhere to talk about those topics.

It's not a situation with a perfect solution.

We decided we wanted to combine all these games into General Discussion. Later in the week, I'll merge everything in this forum into General.

Any objections or comments we should consider first?

Uh, yes. Low traffic or no, I don't think specific game discussions belong in General. They float right off the front page and draw lots of drive-by postings.

I'll probably stop participating in this forum. Too much noise makes me wander off.

I sense a July-4th joke in there ... lol

Back on topic, I agree it might be wise to keep the General/Other forum bc as mentioned, the 4e folk tend to gather together, the Legacy DND forum is mostly d20/v3 discussions so leaving here as-is provides a convenient place for discussions NOT involving DND v3/v4 issues.

How about we go in the other direction instead? I agree that there is too much traffic in the General Discussions section. How about we break the other games down further into genres? It would be bigger then a section on Star Wars. We could have one based on Scifi. This way related games would be in the same area but it would not get overwhelmed.
