Page Backgrounds? (possible commission?)

Wik

First Post
So, a quick check of the RPGnow store doesn't really offer much in the way of page backgrounds.

I'm looking for a cheap/free background for my "Creative Newt" e-zine. It's a free gaming PDF, yadda yadda yadda. So, I want to keep my expenditures light - I'm already using free clipart.

If anyone knows of a good place to get decent page backgrounds (not colourful ones, or anything that'll eat up a lot of ink...) or is willing to use their artistic skills to draw one up for me, that'd be great.

I'm looking for something that's really simple in nature. I think it'd be cool to have a single bar that runs down the right of the PDF, or something that frames the pages (ie, it runs down the right on odd pages, and the left on even pages, boxing in each two page spread). In a dream world, it'd be cool to have a cartoony newt or salamander in there somewhere, too.

I can't really pay anything (how do you pay artists by commission online? Pay Pal?) more than a few bucks, but there'd be lots of "mad props" on the e-zine's by line.

Thanks a lot,

D. S. Percival.

Something I quickly hacked together.

I'll post a link to 300dpi versions if you want to use them.

Those are PERFECT. Almost exactly what I had in mind!

I can totally use those. Yeah, I'll take the link. What do you want for them? (and lemme know the name you want to be credited by).

Thanks a lot. Those are damn nigh perfect. Awesome.

Here they are.

Don't want anything, i consider the experience i got with this little exercise in image manipulation pay enough for my meager skills.

Name's Dom Huber and good luck to your e-zine!

Small update: The little bugger now wraps his tail around the bars, don't know why I haven't thought about it yesterday already.

You rock. I'll make sure to include the info in my growing "credits" section. And I'll post the next 'zine here.

Once again, thanks a lot.
