Painted Miniatures: better than the "original"?

Ok, this thread serves (or is supposed to serve...) two purposes:
First and foremost: to show alternative ways of painting miniatures in contrast to the example picture provided by the producer.
Second: gain some feedback on that new painting scheme.

I will start with an example, ok?
Here's the Human Death Cleric (Ahmut) of Chainmail fame:

What do you think?
And: do you have your own examples you'd like to show to the public?

(BTW, if you like my painting style you might want to check out my miniature gallery. Enjoy ;) )

Very nice. :)

I especially like the way the metal of the armor looks (who says bad guys can't be shiny? :D )

Are the bones by his feet part of the original model or did you add those? They look pretty cool.

The one comment I would make is that he needs a cool base to go with the cool paint job.

Thanks for your comments.

But who said that this miniature is a bad guy? ... it's a bad gal, actually ;)
In reality it's not that shiny.

The bones are part of the miniature.

And for my RPG minis I usually make the base a "neutral black", so that it can be used in indoor and outdoor setting without the base distracting from the scene (my "tabletop miniatures" have "proper bases", though). I know it's not a perfect solution, but it could be much worse...

I love the way youve painted the cleak, its probley nothing special but I think it looks really good.

Whats the scenery in the background? Yours? Did you make it or buy it?

Man, I should get back into this :D
