Pathfinder 1E Paizo Adventure Path Subscription Stinker

I feel that Paizo took advantage of me, and I don't intend to patronize a company that behaves this way.

That seems a bit harsh since the company has been jumping through all sorts of hoops to make sure its customers were not screwed by the end of the mags.

When I went to cancel my sub I was realy surprised that you had to talk to customer service to get it cancelled. What kind of operation doesn't have an automated cancellation system in place so people can cancel their own subscriptions in the modern day?

Anyway, while Pathfinder was pretty high quality, I'm not totally sure it was the same content to dollar value as the magazines used to be. I don't have the math handy, but I'm pretty sure it works out to less pages per buck. :/

Initially, I too was annoyed because I have switched to 4E and planned to cancel my subscription after the 2nd AP finished. So I posted on the messageboards and then sent an email to Paizo's customer service asking them to accommodate my request to continue to receive issue 12 but not include and charge me for issue 13.

Guess what? That's exactly what they did. I received an email a day or two later granting the cancellation of my subscription, then received a link with the free subscription download for issue 12. No charge for issue 13, and issue 12 is on its way.

Seems like pretty good customer service to me, without any attempt to manipulate me into buying unwanted product!

Paizo has been pretty open about what's going on. This year has been rough for them, because of WOTC's dithering with the GSL and 4E announcements meant a late start to certain projects (such as the RPG), and consequently they've fallen behind in their publishing schedule.

If you'd been paying attention to the announcements, you would have known that they were really pushing to get things back on track, and make sure the third AP launched by GenCon, and that consequently a lot of stuff was going to get piled up in August.

So it's hard to feel sympathetic when you're accusing them of trying to cheat you and I know they've been really good about keeping their customers informed for the last year.

So they didn't read your mind and predict your canceling your sub, and then got your sub caught up to where its supposed to be and you were cheated? Plus saved you a couple of dollars in shipping by doing so?

Just proves my love for PAizo's service is substantiated. I guess it would help if they could read your mind since you don't inform them of anything in a timely manner.

I had to cancel my sub because money is so tight. They still sent me a free PDF of the next issue, which I thought was very cool of them. I wish finances would turn around so I could resubscribe, and I haven't played D&D for over 2 years now.

Good stuff is good stuff. The edition doesn't really matter.

I'm hoping to be able to start subscribing again early next year.

It's just schedule adjustment, this means they can start an AP at Gencon 2008 (good idea), it also means that next year when Pathfinder RPG debuts in Gencon 2009, they can release an AP that uses those rules simultaneously, rather than being one month off.

Keep in mind though that doing it this way actually helped most Paizo subscribers (those that want to keep their subscription)

People who didn't want to receive 3rd AP said so in the Paizo boards and were accommodated.

When there is something going on at Paizo, just reading the general product discussion or the customer service boards gives you a good indication of what the fix will be, when it will come or how you can deal with the problem. I recommend it.

Paizo always sends out an email notice informing their subscribers that they will be sending out new stuff about a week in advance of the charge going on their card. This gives people a week to make changes if they need to. Cedin, you're familiar with the way their Pathfinder subscription service works, so if they were about to send you something you didn't want, the responsibility is on you to contact them and let them know.

As for me, I have about $120 worth of Paizo books coming this month. I couldn't be happier.
