Pathfinder 1E Paizo being mysterious

It's not a mutually exclusive thing. You can focus on 3.5/d20 until the GSL, and assuming the GSL is OK you can go with 4e as well.

This idea that it's 4e at GenCon or else 3.5/d20 until the early-adapter period ends is ludicrous. GenCon is important, but it's not the end all be all of Paizo or any company.

No, but Paizo HAVE said that there is no way they will switch mid adventure path, and that they are still going to be going with 6 month adventure paths AND that Gamemastery won't switch until Pathfinder does, so the editors don't have to be working with 2 sets of rules at once

I don't see how you can argue 3e attracted new players and didn't leave anyone behind while 4e will not attract new players and will leave people behind.

I'm not trying to argue anything of the sort.

I want to see 4e attracting actual new gamers, and not just recycling lapsed gamers-- and I want to know how they intend to do it.

So I guess my argument-- if you want to make an argument out of it at all-- is that recycled gamers are not new in the sense that WoTC (and the hobby) needs new players.

Paizo is doing 4E.

We know this. Clark (Necro) said as much on this very forum. If, as someone mentioned above, Paizo stated they can't do both editions - then 4E seems to be it.

The sooner they announce the inevitable the sooner the bickering that's eroding our hobby ends.

I, for one, will welcome the end to this crapfest.

Was Clark talking for Necromancer or for Paizo? Because Paizo has been waiting to see the GSL, while Necro has said they are going 4E

Why is everyone assuming that if Paizo picks up the GSL they will no longer support 3.x?

Paizo said they won't. From their stand point, they'd have to be proficient in 2 systems and come up with two seperate adventures. That's more work then they can handle.

WP, I would call it highly irresponsible of you to speak on their behalf and talk as if you knew what was going to happen. Unless you have a link, I suggest you not make such definitive comments without proof.

Well the Story has disappeared off the front of Enworld. I wonder what that portents?

Nothing!

:D

I posted that. Really. Somehow the board allowed me to. I meant no harm. I received friendly e-mail from Morrus, and the thread was moved, and I'm sure this mutant ability was removed from my account.

I can only assume Morrus' rationale is that once the announcement has been made, that will be what is newsworthy, till then they don't want it as a headline.

I am like that too. My group played 2nd Edition but stopped playing D&D once 3rd Edition came out. Now all of us are very excited about 4th Edition and we are already playing with the little bit of 4th that is out now.

Easy friend.. I don't disagree with you, but if we're on the cusp of a decision there is no need to argue. Soon we'll all know one way or another.
