Heck, at least by GenCon they could have the cover art done, a name done, and broad description done, lots of things to discuss in a panel and to be covered in news, and that will be plenty to whet people's appetites.

I, for one, am glad that it won't be Paizo slapping together a product well below their high production standards to be "first out of the gate with 4E" and get a leg-up on the competition.

Why is everyone assuming that if Paizo picks up the GSL they will no longer support 3.x? There's nothing stopping them from supporting both. Especially if there's a market. If these boards are any indication, Paizo could pick up WotC's slack by playing both sides of the fence.

IIRC, the last time the Paizo website went down in anticipation of a big announcement, it was for the announcement that Dragon and Dungeon magazines were killed.

I hope this teaser has a happier ending (although I have to admit, Pathfinder and the Gamemastery adventures have been awfully good).

I'm not saying this with any attitude.. merely conveying information... James Jacobs and Erik Mona have fielded this question in the weekly Paizo chat (every Tuesday night), and have indicated that they simply don't have the resources to support both lines. Too much work between too few people.

Now, they could up and reverse that stance today, who knows what could happen?.. But that has been the public statement up until last week.

Paizo has said themselves that they will not support both editions, that they're not capable of it. They will have to do one or the other. This goes for .pdf as well. They don't have the time or resources to produce for both.

Today might be the date they HAVE to decide if they do the fourth AP in 4th (without knowing the GSL) or if they do it in 3.5 (without knowing if enough gamers will stay 3.5 to make it worthwhile).
After all, they have to finish the AP in the near future so it can be printed and shipped!

Why 15 minutes?

Because I posted to a Pathfinder editor, who is quite a great guy, and he said "in theory" we might see something in about 15 minutes.

Now I am witholding his name, because it's not his fault if it takes longer. However that suggests to me that they don't plan on stringing this out all day.

Indeed, they have to re-open the store at some point for Customer Service and Order Entry anyway..
