Pathfinder 1E Paizo Licenses

I think the biggest point in Paizo's favor in this is that the rules are OGL.

That's really quite huge. That means you can take the rules they wrote, run them through whatever wringer you want, and even, if you were creative and wanted to be sneaky, avoid the license while still producing compatible products with some clever verbiage (not that you would WANT to, just, you know, theoretically. ;)). You can IRON HEROES PF. You can ARCANA EVOLVED PF. You can d20 MODERN PF. You can M&M PF. You can SPYCRAFT PF. You can even BOEF PF, you just need to get sneaky about it. Heck, you can even, and here's an interesting thought: 4e PF. ;)

That, and the leniency for changing the license, means a LOT to me.

If I make something for 4e D&D and publish it, it goes into WotC's feudal keep and doesn't escape again.

If I make something for Pathfinder, others can take it and use it in new and interesting ways.

I'm truly stoked about Pathfinder's dedication to supporting the OGL, and, ultimately, the GSL's inability to embrace the OGL is its deepest flaw for me. I know that's not a flaw for the "MUST CONTROL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MUST COPYRIGHT NOUNVERB WORDS" drive over at the Coast, but it makes me want to buy and play Pathfinder more than I want to keep playing 4e.

Well, that, and a new Tome of Horrors. ;)

Whatever flaws or errors the Pathfinder rules have, the ability for someone to find them and publish a book that revises them (even if they don't claim Pathfinder compatibility) is huge.

And, if we're lucky, Pathfinder will even take some of these ideas in-house in future "editions" of the game.

Guys, this is pretty exciting.

Consider me pumped.
