I know Dragon and Dungeon will still be around for another 4-5 months, but you always should have a plan B in case something blows up in your face like this.

Except if you are very stupid

or WAIT !

Maybe you come from the computer industry and you believe it is OK to sell a faulty, buggy, unusable product, to replace a good and perfectly working one.

Problem : not same market...

But that's your choice. That's not proof Wizards is evil, short-sighted, incompetent etc.

Hmmm.... Wizards wanna make more money. This is greed. greed is a sin and therefore evil... so ... doubts are open.

As for incompetent, sorry, but given the way they have handled the issue, there is no doubt about this.

Maybe not the whole gang, but certainly the enchanters in charge of PR are.

Wow.

So Wizards should avoid sinning huh? That's a new one. I wasn't aware that there was a commandment against taking magazines and moving them online.

I'm in total agreement that the ouster of Gygax and the true apparent deaths of the magazines were worse. Both those predated these boards, though. I was quoted out of context. Here's what I said earlier in that post:

I'll stand by that statement.

At the time there was no choice.

THAT makes a difference.

And I'd rather spend 5$ more apiece and keep the mags than spend 1 cent over the internet.

Really???

What about the assassination of a high public official? A natural disaster killing thousands and leaving tens of thousands homeless?

Could we please stop with the hyperbolic drama queenerie already?

Magazines are going online.

That is all.

I would not care about either of these.

Natural disasters are acts of god if you are optimistic and a consequence of reckless global warming if you are not.
Public officials are mostly scum out to get your money.
For both of things, you can't do much anyways.

I DO care about my hobby and my friends. I don't approve of WOTC's current move, especially as it seems harsh, amateurish, unready and short on ideas. And I will say so and stick with my opinions even if you don't like it.

NOTHING the online trash can do will ever match a home grown game with my friends, (past, current, and incoming). Can you even understand that ?

Creative Mountain Games has published an article regarding the end of Dragon and Dungeon magazines and what comes in their wake.

Interesting article. In it you write:

supposed "one million monthly D&D players" market

I think it's intersting to compare this munber with the number of 5 million D&D players quoted so often as proof that the magazines with a readership of 30-40000 people were insignificant.

Mark, could you tell us where this number is from?

Apart from the fact that earthquakes and tsunamis have nothing to do with the planet warming... OMG.

Haven't even seen what will happen and already calling it "trash".

You know, I'm unsubscribing this thread. The performance anger and grievance theater is so over the top as to be out of good taste that they surely wouldn't have been said were people not hiding behind anonymity and pseudonymity.
