Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Don't know that I'll check out the online thing, but you never know.

Oh, I know; and I won't. "On-line content" is utter garbage as far as I'm concerned, regardless of its quality. Oh, I downloaded the Dungeon on-line enhancements, but only because they were free, and have really done nothing with them other than put 'em onto a CD for 'future reference.' I may be a grognard, but I want an actual, physical product in myhands, or there'll be no money from me.

Odd thing is, I was just gettin' ready to re-subscribe to Dungeon after letting mine lapse several years ago. I guess I'll be doin' the Pathfinder thing. I'd rather give Paizo my money for work of proven quality than take a chance on WotC's online junk.

Also, a question for the Paizo guys:

You mentioned that the APs in Pathfinder will be set in a common world. Will there be any sort of product detailing the bare bones of this world, apart from information contained in the adventures themselves?

Regards,
Darrell

Not one reply from a WotC person here or on their site. Frankly, the interaction with the Paizo people will be one of the things I miss the most (as it regards the magazines, I know you'll still be around). I can't imagine the WotC employees really stepping up and posting more. I'm not surprised, but I'm not impressed either.

I agree that the interaction was nice. My hunch is that WOTC isn't responding because they (a) don't want to and (b) don't have to.

If they don't really have a good handle yet on what this new service is going to look like, they certainly aren't going to put themselves in a position where they're bombarded by questions about what it's going to look like.

Also, any response would probably need to be vetted by some management type, which pretty much negates the possibility of having a timely response to anything posted on a message board.

We've discussed the idea and I know its still on the table for 2008. Stay tuned to paizo.com/pathfinder for additional details.

Do you know what the plans are for the Dragon/Dungeon editors specifically?

James Jacobs will become Editor-in-Chief of Pathfinder.
F. Wesley Schneider will become Associate Editor of Pathfinder.
James Sutter will become Assistant Editor of Pathfinder.

Jason Bulmahn will become the GameMastery Brand Manager, and will oversee that entire line of products.
Mike McArtor will become the Associate Editor for the GameMastery line.
Jeremy Walker will become the Assistant Editor for the GameMastery line, with a specific emphasis on our GameMastery Modules line.

Erik Mona is the publisher, overseeing the entire company's publishing efforts and managing the editorial staff.

I've also put in a major amount of work on our new campaign setting.

Cool. Because (ironically) I probably would not buy it if I couldn't get it in electronic format.

If you subscribe, you not only get a physical copy of the book mailed to you, but you get a PDF version made available on paizo.com the same day for download.

Cake. Have it. Eat it too. :-)
