Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

The half divine agent of the Scarred Lands and half fiend son of Orcus says this:

Let them come! I promise them comfort until I'm unimpressed by them.

Heh.

You're certainly persistent. :)

I've never seen someone take on everyone in a thread for 31 pages before...

Im just posting my opinions same as the next guy.

Should I be quiet because I'm in the minority?

Would that make everyone feel better about tying their nooses and heating up the tar? ;)

I dunno, dude, but a product ban just seems... extreme... to me. I mean, if you feel that strongly about it, more power to you, I guess.
I agree - a blanket boycott of WotC products does seem extreme, but if this will appease the outrage some people are feeling, then I hope they really do follow through on it.

As I have said, myself, I won't be boycotting their products, but this has left me very disillusioned with WotC and their policies, and will (negatively) impact on my potential future purchases of their products.

Unbelievably long-time lurker here delurking for a quick post.

Likely nothing new I can add, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I'm very dissapointed in this decision. One of the things I love about this game is the shared community and history it engenders in players. I feel like Dragon and esp. Dungeon have a big part in that.

Like Monte's post that was linked, I fondly remember devouring page by page issues of Dragon when I was in Jr. High. Actually, I fondly remember devouring page by page issues of Dragon and Dungeon last week! Even if I don't always use content from an issue, I enjoy the daylights out of reading them......usually multiple times. I hate the thought of not finding them in my mailbox each month.

It feels like this is strong evidence of decision making by folks who have lost sight of the people who love their hobby and invest a great deal of time and money in it. Maybe the online content will be great.....I'm sure there will be a lot of people checking it out when the time comes. I'm not sure how low the price would need to be to interest me in online-only content.

Anyway, thanks to the Paizo people for putting out a great product the last few years. Jeers to WOTC to chipping away at the history and tradition of our game a little further.

Lurker out.

While I'm sad, since I was a subscriber from 1980 or so until 3e came out, I am neither surprised, nor does it bother me. I cancelled my subscription when they ceased being a gaming magazine and were only a DnD magazine.

My fondest recollections, and I've been going through my collection of Dragons today, are the articles that have to do with Traveller, Gang Busters, Gamma World, et al. That's why I loved Dragon.

Just an odd point of order, about the "customer comes first" stuff, WotC pulling the licenses and bring the magazines back in-house IS them taking care of their customers, although many of which are also Paizo customers.

WotC, I think, honestly feels that this is the right choice. Many of us obviously thinks it is a bad choice, as well as having been vocal about it, but I'm pretty sure that when the choice was made it was "How can we provide a better service to our customers" not "WooHoo, we're gonna hose some people today!".

For any of these people to be traitors, honestly that crud is being thrown out way to easily, they'd have to turn anti-gaming.

You know, act like a Jack Chick convert, or Jack Thompson, and be totaly in the "Gaming is bad, it turns you into a gun wielding Emo of Death" camp.

None of them are traitors and many of them have put out some of the better gaming products I've ever owned, such as Alternity, to name one.

So, while I'm sure they've now been reading the posts, let's show them that we're civil enough to actual post with.

I'm sure Morrus and crew would like WotC to feel comfortable enough to post, we're not animals here people, we're just a bit POed, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't act rational.
