"Never violate a woman, nor harm a child. Do not lie, cheat or steal.
These things are for lesser men.
Protect the weak against the evil strong.
And never allow thoughts of gain to lead you into the pursuit of evil.
Never back away from an enemy. Either fight or surrender.
It is not enough to say I will not be evil. Evil must be fought wherever it is found."

here is the whole "Iron Code" of Druss the Legend. I agree he tends to define Evil as he finds it, but I have no problem with that. He definately was no Paladin, but I prefer a Paladin who is not too "goody-goody" I mean Laws are made to be interpreted, and Lawful Good to me should be Good Lawful, with the Good being the most important part.

Perhaps but if you don't value "law" in some ways you become NEUTRAL or at least semi-chaotic. Picking and choicing laws based on their inherant goodness is one thing, ignoring laws that help promote good overall even if it doesn't always work, is another thing entirely.

yes, but you cannot blindly obey laws, therefore, each paladin determines which laws he considers just, and therefore worth following. So, my question, say a Paladin went to another country, does he go to examine the laws of that place, or does he continue to follow his "personal code" ? I would imagine many laws being very arbitrary, depending on the ruler at the moment. And I would gather no "universal" morality, so each must develop his code. I would say the tenets of his faith are the most important, and the only ones that he would rigorously adhere to. I see it as there are Laws of the land, and Laws of your religion, and Laws of your own.

Puts them in a sticky situation, aye?
