Paladin with Monk levels: Feasible Character?

Basically, I like the monks flurry of blows and the stunning fist attack. I want those. And deflect arrows. I also like their wisdom bonus to AC and fast movement. So I will be playing an unarmored pc. I could also takea level of sorc later and take mage armor for a good boost to AC. Good idea no?
Why do you want levels of paladin? Why not just straight monk or sorc 1/monk X?

Or swordsage, from ToB, if you want to play a monk that doesn't suck and can wear armor.

From a powergaming PoV it's a poor combo - monk's don't wear armor, paladins wear heavy armor. Pallies need lots of cha, monks need every other stat.

I'm still pondering the feasibility of a Monk/Paladin Ascetic Knight build that includes a level of Sorcerer (picking up, say, Mage Armor, True Strike, and Swift Expeditious Retreat) and Ascetic Mage. Forget about Wisdom and focus on Charisma.

Ascetic Knight: "Your paladin and monk classes stack for the purpose of determining your unarmed strike damage. Your paladin and monk levels also stack when determining the extra damage dealt by your smite evil ability. In addition, you can multiclass freely between the paladin and monk classes. You must still remain lawful good in order to retain your paladin abilities and take paladin levels, and you must remain lawful in order to continue advancing as a monk. You still face the normal XP penalties for having multiple class more than one level apart."

It's the "I want to multiclass as a Monk and Paladin" feat :)
wow, cute feat. Anyone think it would be too much to also let this feat allow paladin and monk classes stack for the purpose of determining AC bonus? The Paladin loses a lot of potential AC down this path and both classes tend to be feat hungry.

After taking the Ascetic Knight feat, I'd go into the Kensai PrCl as soon as possible.

The only deviation from the Core I'd ask my DM for would be being allowed to use the DCv1. In it, there are 3 relevant feats to this build: Unorthodox Flurry, Pole Fighter, and Ring the Golden Bell (and each has at least one other Feat as a prereq).

UF allows the use of a 1 handed weapon as a Monk weapon, including for FoB. That could include, as I recall the wording, a Bastard Sword or Maul. Advantage: improved damage output at lower levels, especially once you obtain an enchanted version of the weapon.

PF allows the use of a polearm as a monk weapon, like UF. Advantage: as above, improved damage output, but also most polearms have reach or other mechanical advantages. The build's IUC overcomes the problem of foes getting inside your reach and Combat Reflexes with a reach weapon means maxing your AoOs.

RtGB allows the use of the monk's unarmed attack as a ranged weapon (you know, like in the tv shows & movies). Advantage: KEWL!

I want paladin for smite evil. plus I want to take the divine might and divine vengeance feats. :)

now, is there any feat that allows a monk to use a greatsword for flurry of blows?

ANyhow, now I am thinking:

sorc1/monk2/pallyX

Feats: Ascetic Knight, powerattack, divine might.

The sorceror;s mage armor will help in boosting AC. Only prob now is the ability score requirements. :(

Also, any tips on subbing out the paladin's mount for something else? Hmm, maybe an extra smite/day or a free feat.

If you're going to take a level of Sorcerer, try to get the Ascetic Mage feat in there ASAP - it lets you use Charisma instead of Wisdom for AC (and a few other things that will help a little). Then you don't need to worry about your Wisdom nearly as much...

Of course, it is another feat....

You can get smite from other sources, such as access to the Destruction Domain.

Not AFAIK.
sorc1/monk2/pallyX

Then you might want access to one of the warrior-esque variant Sorcerers (from UA or CompMage), Warmage, or Duskblade.

Charging Smite, PHB2 p53, exchanges the mount for +2dam/Pally lvl when you smite evil.

Battle Sorc from Unearthed Aracana or one of the online srds - d8 HD and 1 matrial weapon proff, 3/4 BAB, and light armor w/o ASF (not that you want/need that for the monk). at the cost of 1 spell per level IIRC.
