Paladins; Will they finally get to shine in this edition?

IMO, a paladin ought to be able to raise the recently dead. . . like Lancelot.

I'm ok with spell powers for Paladins. . . just keep them focused, streamlined, and free of any lamitude.

I hope they do. And the de-emphasis on alignment in 4e should help them become a more palatable choice (I can deal with a code of honor more than a lawful good alignment).

I suspect we will see some interesting and useful per-encounter abilities for them that put them at least on par with the fighter.

I played a Paladin in 3.5. I liked it. I play a Dragonborn Paladin in 4.0 and forgetaboutit. My abilities just at level two completely outshine anything I did in the previous edition. Granted, I near death quite a bit due to my bold, heroic style and a little bit of over-achiever syndrome, but I have delivered some truly mighty blows. And yes, thank Kord for doing away with my need to be lawful. sheesh.

And I'm confused now.
Partly from the time travelling, and partly because thats the first reference to order and chaos in 4e that I've seen. Ubbergeek, where'd that come from?

Granted, not much, may change, may be only for existing settings or not PoL, etc...

there was a cryptic line or two in W&M if i remember well, bringing Lawfull and Chaotic around, the designer dude at FR brought that 'Good and Lawfull paladins are more commons than Evil or Chaotic ones' and one or two more quotes I think.

Wished that I had them at hands.... but they where discussed around here.
