Pale Master prc question

Hey All I just wanted to know if you thought the pale master is balanced. I have been looking through my books as I am creating a new pc for an upcoming adventure and I thought it would be interesting to play one. The other reason why I ask is that on other boards many people believe that it is not a prc worth playing. I guess one of the biggest problems is that for a non combat type they receive a serious amount of melee type attacks (from their undead graft) as an aside the save dcs on some of the associated "touch" attacks are very low as well. So any thoughts on this? Thanks.

The pale master seems to me to require a different kind of focus than most casters. You might consider a few monk levels as well as wiz/sorc levels and PM. You'll lose out on lots of caster levels, but if you built your character to capitalize on the strengths of the PM I think you'll be fine.

Good point. Intertestingly enough I had also thought of that avenue and thats exactly why I think the pale master is not a well balanced prc. I truly believe that the prc should receive a cleric bab, or more caster levels, as this would facilitate the fact that the prc does in fact receive several abilities that require a somewhat decent bab. Thus even if someone was to be a straight wiz 10/pale master 10 they could still utilize the prc's abilities slightly better.

Many of the 3e Splat Book Prestige Classes, from my experience, have been just a bit underpowered. They all seem good at first glance, but when you get down to it, just aren't worth playing without a bit of spicing up here at there. I recently completely re-vamped the Master of Chains from Sword and Fist, for example- let me know if you'd be interested in seeing it.

I hear ya! As far as your reworked Master o' Chains...sure I woundn't mind seeing it. As far as the pale master is concered I think I'll just increase the bab to cleric. Hopefully that fixes things, either that or I might add in 2 more caster levels. I think using one or the other will not make the prc unbalanced.
