Can anyone give me some suggestions and/or links for D&D software for a Palm OS? I'll take what I can get but I'd be most interested in a program that has feats/skills/quick check of rules.

as far as i know there is 3 things for palms for dnd. there is one out there i know nothing about, its on one of the big palm software sites, and it looks like its blank, you have to fill it all out (think they call it a character sheet). second there is the one off enworld, realmscrafters, however there as been a lot of comeing soon on their site, and i havent kept track. and last is pcgenview.
i use pcgenview, love it. it uses pcgen ( pcgen.sourceforge.net ) to create a character, then you export it through a special process, and then load your char onto the allready installed pcgenview. not only does it show your char, and all pertinent info, thre are combat rollers, you can memorize spells, take damage, sleep for the night and regain spells, it is quite a impressive pice fo hardware. i use a visor deluxe, kind of low end, but its a great pice of software.

I'v said it once and I'll say it again... Tomeraider! It may be nag-ware, but if you can get around that you can use my D&D 3e databases. I have one for feats and one for spells. Plus, they are pretty easy to make so you could make a TR file for just about anything.

You can get Tomeraider from: http://www.tomeraider.com

And you can get my TR Databases from Jamis Bucks site: http://www.enworld.org/generators/downloads.html

Also iSilo - I have a hyperlinked copy of the SRD which you can use to quickly find your way around all the rules.

I also have written a little jump calculator program for the Palm - work out the distance that you travel with a particular skill check, or the DC to jump a certain distance.

Check my website or email me for details.

Cheers

not to stomp on any toes but with pcgen its right not the most full feature, and supported program for pc management. then to export to pcgenview you not only get your character, you get a die roller, save rollers with a tap, lister spot search, you also get a jump claculator, you can memorize spells and it keeps track as you cast them till you rest.if you need to look up a feat or a skill it wont help there but if you make a char you should know these things or have access to a phb, where you cant beat the info.

i also found the name of the first program imentioned, Dungeon Delver, i think palm.com has it.

PCGenView is great.

It starts with a character export/import from PCGen (a great PC Management program).

See:

FOR PCGENVIEW:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgenview/ (discussion group)

and

http://www.pcgenview.com/ (the files) as well as

FOR PCGEN:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pcgen/ (discussion group)

and

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pcgen/ (the files)

It is designed as a deskside playing aid.

Features:

Most importantly - an extremely responsive and capable developer.

Plus (a partial list):

Automatic calculation of Flat footed and Touch Armour class.
Ability to adjust amour class temporarily i.e. (Mage Armour).
Ability to adjust saving throws temporarily.
Display basic Spell information.
Add/Subtract experience points.
Add/Subtract Gold.
Single screen that contains most of the information need for combat.
Beeps when current HP's go below 1.
Show count of Number of wounds taken, before being cured.
Multi Spell Casting Classes.
Use Palm buttons to get to Stats and Combat Pages quickly.
Colour support.
Show Domain Information and Powers.
Supports Multiple Spell Casting classes.
Roll Saving Throws.
Edit in Games Notes.
Ability to Delete Characters.
Roll skill checks.
Character Stat's adjustments.
Clerical Turn/Rebuke Rolls.
Barbarian Rage Attacks.
Attack Rolls, with critical Reroll.
Damage Roll, with Critical Multiplier.
Calculate Jump Distances.
Spell Learning for Clerics and Wizards.
Counts Number of Spells per level cast per day.
Reset Prepare Spells, and start of New Day.
Attribute Saving Throws rolled.
In Program Help.
Customizable Dice Roller.
Character Movement Calculations, inf Feet and Miles or Meters and Kilometers.
Options External File for Spell/Feat/Skill Descriptions.
Equipment Split into Types.
Character Height/Weight converted to Metric, if Metric Selected.

I use this now while playing and find it invaluable.

Both these programs work well, but are most definately development projects and change almost weekly. PCGen is going to go to "production" in a month or two, and then will be stable.

It will take longer for PCGenView to do the same - mostly because we keep asking for more features! (Yes, we are very greedy users - especially for a free product!)

Good luck!

palm

Hey
I have some stuff for the palm. Im sorry I forgot where I got it but if you go to one of the following zdnet, tucows or palmstuff.com and put Dungeons and dragons in the search window you can usually find stuff. I found a die roller, pretty common. I also found a utility that does travel speed based on encumberance, terrain etc. its a cleric turning aid as well as a exp generator. Its pretty handy. Its called D&D Tools

The other thing that I use lots is TinySheet 4 - a spreadsheet for the PalmOS machines which takes full advantge of the Sony Clie high-res screen.

I find that this spreadsheet it my best partner for taking a character to the table electronically - especially since I can easily adjust attributes for spells or poison and see the effect ripple through all skills, attacks, saves etc.

The spreadsheet itself is excel compatible, and you are welcome to a copy (although you have to bear in mind that it is optimsed for viewing on a Clie)

Cheers
