Palpatine's Big Plan **Ep III Spoilers**

Well, it´s not that bad. You can put verbs at the end, but the "Subject-Predicate-Object" is still the standard procedure. (If you use another structure, you usually want to stress a different part of the sentence or otherwise affect the meaning) Yoda´s "style" is still obvious.
(But that reminds me: Those Trade Federation guys, do they really have a french accent?)
They sounded Italian in English...

I also don't believe that Sidious was really in that much danger from Mace Windu. I think he knew exactly what he was doing and that whole episode, including the "scarring" of his face was all an act for Anakin's benefit. He sure didn't look "weak" like he was claiming a second ago when he blasted Windu out the window gloating and shouting "Ultimate Power!" like some kind of cartoon villain.

Problem with that is people are constantly getting knocked out and coming back to full strength just when the plot calls for. Earlier in the very same movie Obi-Wan was unconscious for a fair bit of time, but once he woke up he was at full strength. Furthermore, while Mace did beat Palpy down, he didn’t do any real damage, he just disarmed him, a clear win when you’re using lightsabers, so Palpy throwing out some force lightning doesn’t mean much.

In ep2 we see how ineffective the trading of force attacks is, even a significantly less experienced/powerful Obi-Wan is able to easily fend off Dooku’s force lightning. The only time we see it used effectively is when the victim is surprised or recently been amputated.

This is pretty much my point. It all seems like it would be so elegant if the Sifo-Dyas=Dooku thing were true. But the canonical explanation is clunky by contrast and even makes the movie worse by its explanation or lack thereof (IMHO).

Or you can view it my way, there's enough there for us to figure it out on our own. Just from Obi-Wan's conversation with Mace and Yoda it's easy enough to conclude that Sifo-Dyas was dead and someone pretending to be him ordered the clone army (i.e. Sidious or a minion).

Is it really necessary that every little be plainly stated and detailed for us?

My theory had been that Sifo-Dyas was Darth Plaguis, Sidious' master; and that he had ordered the clone army and started things rolling, told his apprentice too much, and been murdered.

Problem is the timing with that doesn't work, the clone army was ordered at the time of Ep1, and we already know that Sidious had Maul as his apprentice at that time.

No, of course not. And that was precisely the way I felt after Ep II when I thought that there was a moderate-strong implication that Sifo-Dyas and Dooku were one and the same. But I've come to discover that canon dictates that they were not the same and that Sifo-Dyas is just a throw away character who's story appears interesting on the surface but really isn't. And Dooku starts to be downright bizarre.

The more I find out about the background of Dooku as explained through the various books (I haven't read them but I've gotten second hand info from a friend), the clunkier it sounds. From what I hear, and please correct me if I'm wrong, Dooku was an honest to goodness Count by right of birth. But presumably his facility with the Force was identified at the typical young age and he was recruited into the Jedi. BUT he later appears to have left the Jedi without much fanfare (He RETIRED?! ) and went back to wherever he was royalty and started being the leader of the Separatists. Later the Jedi act all baffled by who this guy is and, as I've said before, he's mentioned as being "The Mysterious Count Dooku" in the opening crawl for EpII.

Now given what we're shown in the movies, does that sound like an elegant, plausible story?

I don't recall the Jedi acting baffled by who Count Dooku was. I think they were more baffled by why was he involved with the sepertists. They had made the connection that he was Sidius's apprentice until the end of Clones.

Bah, just do what I do, blissfully ignore it! I ignore the fact Bobba Fett is still alive in the EU and I'll ignore the Sifo-Dyas order the clone army in LoE bit as well.

Haven't heard that stuff yet, but then I'm rather far behind on the novels, which I do read.
