About the Player's Guide to Arcanis:

Arcanis is a world of high fantasy, intrigue, and suspense. Diplomacy, skill, and discretion will carry you as far or farther than skill at arms or in the arts of magic. Heroes come in a myriad of forms. Some are fantastic beings born with the blood of Valinor or the souls of elementals. Others are the descendents of Celestial Giants who once roamed the stars as freely as a fish swims the sea. Many of the greatest heroes of Arcanis are simple mortals of mundane blood but lofty ideals. It is a world of heroes who stand between the common folk and destruction. You can be that hero. The power is in your hands; leave your mark upon the Shattered Empires!

This book is a comprehensive guide to making an endless variety of adventurers native to Arcanis. All facets of character development are explored, from national and religious viewpoints to the basic building blocks of character creation: names, races, classes, skills, feats, prestige classes, spells, and equipment.

This collection of lore is enough to forge an endless variety of heroes and includes:

Nineteen races, including new ss'ressen, dark-kin, and dwarf varieties

Sixteen base classes, including Paladin variants like the Bearers of Woe, the suffering faithful of the goddess Anshar

Ten monastic orders, like the Order of the Bronze Sepulcher, dedicated to containing the threat of ancient undead creatures without actually harming them

More than one hundred fifty new feats

Forty prestige classes, such as the Coryani Battlemage and Altherian Sharpshooter

New fighting styles: learn from the weapon masters of Onara, including the teachings of the famed Red Sword Fencing School

New armor, weapons, and equipment, including new flintlock weapons and a system of enhancements for flintlock pistols and rifles

Dozens of new spells, such as rapture and your time to die

New Val families and new bloodline powers for both new and existing families

Detailed information on the Gods and Temples of Arcanis

Information regarding national outlook and culture

Any idea if the Codex Arcanis is going to make it to pdf sometime? I've been waiting for that for ages.

We're trying our best to get a Limited Edition Codex Arcanis Hardback out in time for the Summer shows. As you may know, the majority of that book was background info, but there was a small section of crunch towards the end. This section will be updated to 3.5 (or3.6 or 3.75 or whatever iteration we're on).

As far as the PDF version of the book, that may take a bit.

Henry,

How many books have you printed per run?
And are they all hard cover with the same exceptional binding as the first print run?
Have you changed paper so that the illustrations aren't so dark?

And since I'm asking questions, what's the status of the Arcanis Worldbook?

In answer to your questions:

1. I'm not sure why this is germane to a public discussion. I will say, quoting Nelson, "More than two." ;-)

2. Nope. The Hardback version was only available for the first print run. The second and third are softback.

3. Yes, the paper from the softback version is very white and thus some of the earlier illustrations that were a bit darker than I would have liked are now just fine.

We also increased the font size from the first edition making this tome weigh in at 370 pages. (Which is why we refer to it as the Phone Book of Arcanis).

4. As far as the World Book, I will be making an announcement sometime in the near future.

It's germane in regards to my obsessive need to know things. *grin*
I wouldn't be a self proclaimed Arcanic if ALL things Arcanis related weren't important to me.

Then the first edition is now a collectors item?!? *grin*

Excellent on both accounts. I wanted to see the illos of the races more clearly and now that I'm a couple of years older than when the first print run was released, it seems I need frickin bifocals! I didn't realize how small the font was until looking at the PGtA hard cover the other day. I usually view it on my laptop and crank up the size for easy reading.

I'm barely able to contain my excitement and anticipation. Can't wait to hear what you've got coming.

Sounds awesome. I am really looking forward to it.

What you really want to keep an eye out for is Psionics Unbound, our Arcanis psionics book (good for anyone else too!).
It is the result of 6 years of hard-core playtesting in the Living Arcanis campaign. So it doesn't just add to the extant Psionics rules, it is a complete Psionic rulebook. Other Psionic rulebooks are not needed, even if you are not playing Arcanis.

Too cool. I have an area of my homebrew that is Psionics heavy, so I look forward to seeing this material.
