Passing the Dice

My wife and I just had our first kid on June 5th. I think he was still less than a week old when I stuck a d20 in the palm of his hand and let him roll it (well, drop it) on the table.

DMing is hard to do well, so I'm teaching him early.

My daughter is 1.5 and love reading through my monster manuals. It make me laugh as she flips past crazy looking things like a dwarf, a demon, a dragon, a lich, and a minotaur saying, "Guy. Guy. Rawwr. Guy. A moo?"

I'm glad to know I'm raising her right. :.-( *Sniff*

I know I've mentioned this before but my boys love the Owlbear, they always say "Who-RAWR!" because an owl says "Who" and a bear says "RAWR!". I die laughing every time, which of course spurs them on to do it more. It's great the looks on people when they come over and the boys do it to them, walk up and say that. Priceless...

Oh, BTW I had this for my boys when they were about 3 months old

Funny! Just tonight as I was putting the youngest IronPup to bed while I was glancing through a Kingmaker volume, she saw a pic of an owl bear and she asked what it was. I told her what it was. About a minute later she asked if it could fly! I answered no, but in the back of my mind I was thinking - Wow! wouldn't it be cool if it could!

2E had stats for a winged owlbear. You can check out Dragon #214 for details.

My rugrat (she is now 6) had a plush D20 when she was younger, has a large d20 she rolls (referred to as "The Stupid Die"), and she picked out her favorite dice from the wife after i bought her 2 pound o' dice. Before that, she'd sneak into my dice. I'd frequently step on d6 and caltrops in her bedroom :hmm:

She sometimes plays a 4e Wizard, loving magic missile (pre-essentials, so she can roll dice)
