Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Advantage

That is good news! I've been wanting to check out some of the Game Mastery modules as it is... This may be just the thing to push me over the edge from contemplating to acting.

The "Pathfinder Advantage" is a marketing strategy to make sure that they continue to stay profitable.

Agreed, and an effective marketing strategy, AFAIC. I just don't believe that this move is indicative of any financial woes on Paizo's part, but more of a way to continue gaining subscribers at a point (between paths) where it would be natural for people "on the fence" to be tempted to end them and also to reward those who subscribe with the discount.

They are finally offering a discount because they are profitable enough to risk offering one.

You only give discounts when you are not strong and profitable for your "Going out of business" sales.

So this, to me, says they are strong, and can afford to offer discounts now.

Subscription revenue has value over and above the strict dollar amount, since it provides more predictable income and better cash flow. I think this is a smart move on their part.

If one did propose that, then it would be pure speculation, because Vic's announcement and also posts on paizo's boards by other staff, seem to contradict that, as they have indicated that Pathfinder was more much more successful that they had hoped for.
Well, I didn't say anything about Pathfinder's successes or sales.

Guys won't this hurt the local gaming store in lost sales?

I'll admit I'm starting to use my local gaming store to review products and then purchase them online. This is more due to the fact that I live in Australia and though our dollar is doing nicely against the US, the exchange rate doesn't seem to flow down to the product price in stores...hmmm. So by ordering online I have paid half the store price on several occasions and this included shipping!

Alas I can see the local gaming store eventually going out of business and I'll have to purchase my books unreviewed.

How about they reward us by giving us the web enhancements for the last three Dungeon issues? It's only been seven months now. :] Then again, why bother supporting former customers?

Exactly. I'd rather they support their existing customers by producing products I want to buy, and by offering me incentives to spend more money with them.
