Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Campaign Setting Hardcover!!!

We fully anticipate this product to be a 4th Edition product. We just can't commit to it being a 4th Edition product, yet, per the reasons I think we've talked about to death.

Awesome. I (reluctantly) had to cancel my Pathfinder subscription, due to financial issues, and for the same reason, I couldn't justify a $50 3.5 book. But if this is 4E-compatible (or system-neutral), I'm absolutely there, at the front of the line. :)

Oh, Ari. You are such a shill for your corporate masters. :)

Even _I_ don't know what edition this book will be for yet, so I hope no one (but me) is going to lose sleep over the topic for the next couple months.

Either way, the vast majority of this book will be world detail, folklore, history, maps, etc. I don't anticipate this being a particularly heavy rules book one way or the other.

But we're still planning this puppy, and lots could change between now and then.

If I was shilling, I wouldn't have added the "or system-neutral" caveat. It would've been "4E or death!" :p

(Not claiming any moral high ground here. I just don't get paid enough to shill. ;))

3E, 4E, edition neutral, I don't care, as much as I am enjoying PF and the other modules I am in.

Yeah, I think basing your decision on whether to buy Pathfinder based on edition is not the right way to go. Rather, I think it should be the setting that draws gamers in. So what if it is 4e or 3e? If it isn't the edition you like, then make some adaptation notes. It may be a bit more work, though I suspect it won't be that much.

If you like the setting, buy the book. Then find the rules you want to use to run the game, and run it the way you want.

I'm getting old because at $49.99, I'd have to really hear a ton of good things about it.

Not saying it's "overpriced" but in a market still fairly saturated.... and the fact that it's probably going to be a 3.5 product...

I didn't think I was getting old, but $50 did make me slam on the brakes.

But, I've got a nice long time before I have to worry about it.

Another in the 3.5 = Yes 4.0 = No column. Pretty happy with 3.25, and I have not seen anything about 4.0 that makes me go 'Wow! What a great idea!'

Dual stat... maybe. It would have to be pretty darned good, but given Pathfinder's quality so far... I almost think that is a given. :)

How much do stats really matter for a campaign setting?

People are still soldiering on with Mystara GAZ, which are neither 3E nor 4E. Refusing to buy a mostly fluff product because it will be marginally out of synch with 3E or 4E seems illogical to me.
