Its really a no better or worse name than any other RPG that is not called "Dungeons & Dragons."

Which these days tends to have less to do with those actual things than it did when it first started. If I had to guess I'd say maybe one in ten adventures I've played in recently had anything to do with one or both of those aspects. More often than not these days the modules I play tend to focus on urban adventures, cross county treks, or something else completely not related to a dungeon or fighting dragons.
