PBH II - Defensive Sweep

rvalle

First Post
The text and rules are slightly differant. The text says 'forcing them to move away' while the rule says 'does not move' and that a 5 foot step is good enough.

So, does the opponent have to move AWAY or just 5' step sideways to avoid the AoO?

Also, while this feat talks about waving a weapon about it seems like it could work with a large creature's natural attack... say, a Dragons Bite attack.

Prereq is BAB 15.

Thanks,

The fact it is defeated by a 5ft step sideways makes it pretty weak, unless you have 3 levels of Knight. In which case they do have to retreat (minimum of 5ft step back) to avoid an AoO.

Unless your opponent knows you have the feat, he's not necessarily going to bother making a 5-foot step on his turn. Even after you hit him with an AoO at the end of his turn, he doesn't necessarily know why you got to do that.

My gamemaster repeatedly forgot that my Fighter had this ability (well, at the start of the session, I often did, too :) ). But even if he didn't, it usually provided an handicap for the opponents. Usually taking 5 ft steps is great, for example to maintain a flanking position. But this feat forces your opponent to constantly shift his position, making it hard for either him or his flanking partner to maintain the benefits. That's especially beneficial if your own movement is hampered or you are defending a position.

Well yes he does he sees you have a habit of doing a defensive sweep at your position with your weapon.
