[PbP] The Sandman's Binding Game Thread

The sight of the withered dwarf visibly shakes Dorn, and he clutches his holy symbol tightly. Then with a firm tug he snaps the symbol off its leather cord. Laying the symbol of Ilmater down on Donvena's bed, he whispers, "keep her safe, Lord, until I..." he pauses and looks around at his new companions, "until we get there."

Then he follows Fam into the makeshift bedroom and begins the long ritual of strapping on heavy armor. Once suited up, he lays down uncomfortably to sleep.

As you drift off to sleep you notice a woman enter the room. She has long black hair and is dressed in the garb of a high cleric. She hands two silver-colored disks to Fam. Fam produces several more disks from her pouch. She goes to each of you and Donvena and set the disks upon you as you drift off.

You awake and find yourself in a square room, totally white on ceiling, floor, and walls. Light seems to appear from a spot in the ceiling. A door is apparent in one wall.

You enter the door and walk down a hall that is 100' feet long and all white like the previous room. At the end of the hall is a mirror, completely smooth standing 10' by 10'. You see yourself in the mirror exactly as you would appear before you went to sleep. Touching the mirror shows you can put your hand straight through it! Knowing your duty you step through, into the dream. You feel a jolt of cold as the world goes black...

Your vision returns and you find youself in a a small valley end with cliffs on each side. The sky is gray throughout, you can't tell the time of day. To the north a wall of fine dwarven-make spans the valley. Three towers can be seen, one at either end and one in the middle. To the east, built into the cliff, 70 feet away you see a young dwarf tending several horses in a stable. To the south you see a massive double door, 10 feet wide and 20 feet tall. From where you stand you can see a carving in the door of a dwarven army fighting off a siege. You see common and dwarven runes that can't be read until you move closer. If you move toward the door some you can read, in common and you assume in dwarven above it, "Before you lies the Redoubt of Clan Swifthammer. Let friends be welcomed and foes be frightened."

Jonas says to the group, "well that wasn't so bad now". He then leads Silver lance by the reigns (he is walking) towards the stable. "Dorn, you said you have fought at the side of the dwarves; is the young one over there anyone you recognize?"

"Let's remember...we are looking for something surrounded by a rainbow."

if Dorn does not approach the dwarf, Jonas will approach, "Hello. Well met this fine...day. We are friends of Dovena Switfthammer. Is she anywhere to be found?"

The young dwarf looks at you quizzically.

"You're friends of little Donvena? Well then you'll be welcome in the redoubt. 'Course since the guards let you pass the wall-gate I guess you're already welcome! I'm Geri Shieldstrong, the stablehand. If you need your horse tended I can do that. Lord Swifthammer is probably in the practice yard now. He enjoys watching the training. Young Donvena would probably be hanging out with the High Cleric somewhere. Just go through the doors and to the right to the pratice yard. Lord Swifthammer should know where everybody is."

Dorn pulls off his helmet and yanks the coif off his head. His jaw is tightly clenched and his brow furrowed. Once the magic coif comes off his face starts to relax and he works his jaws free.

"Appreciate your help, Shieldstrong," Dorn says. As we walk towards the door, Dorn continues, "Little Donvena, heh? Might be dealing with her as a child, but keep your guards up. Just because it looks normal now don't mean it's normal behind the next door."

Dorn redons his coif and helm, and snaps the visor up. Once the coif goes back on Dorn grunts. His eyes narrow and his teeth clench. Ferocity comes at a price.

"Thank you Geri. I would appreciate it if you would tend to my horse. His name is Silver Lance. Since I won't be gone long you can leave his saddle and packs on. And please have him close at hand. He likes being in the open as much as possible. "

To Silver Lance mentally I won't be far. let me know if there is trouble. If there is trouble, stay with the cat, he is your friend.

"Let us go find Donvena and Lord Swifthammer and see if we can find out what is happening in this dream." With that, Jonas is off to the practice yard to find Lord Swifthammer to inquire about Donvena's whereabouts.

Ichtor looks around curiously. "Ah such... wonder is here." Ichtor looks around to see Milgra present (I assume). "Oh little one, you have made is here as well...."

Ichtor follows Jonas, eager to explore more of this dreamscape.

"Razor Claw, stay with our Pride-friend's beast," Nazgrel tells his companion. "Be wary, for there are other hunters in this land..."

Nazgrel then joins the companions as they move onward.

Sean keeps in step with the group, eyeing the surroundings for anything unusual. Once given a couple free moments Sean shall load his pistol, not wanting to be caught off guard.

You came to the massive front doors of the redoubt. They open easily to your touch. They must have been made with great craftmanship. You enter a large entry hall. The wall on your right is adorned with martial trophies. You notice minotaur greataxes hung next to doubleaxes of orcish make. Small plaques beneath the weapons describe where they were won. On the left wall a massive mural occupies the entire stretch. The mural depicts an army of dwarves standing off a drow legion in some unknown cavern. A plaque below the mural reads in Common and Dwarven, "The Clan Swifthammer defeats the Drow Invasion."

At the end of the hall is an amusing sight. An aging dwarf in the livery of Clan Swifthammer, a winged hammer, is sleeping quite soundly on a large chair. You notice a badge that indicates his position as chief steward. A wooden door is found just past the sleeping dwarf.
