PC: Arcane Avatar

First Post
Hiho everybody,

i like to use the Prestige Class Arcane Avatar (from the Book Ultimate Prestige Classes) to tune up my Sorcerer at lvl 12. My question is:

--> The AA gets at lvl 3 the Ability "Call Spell". This Ability means:

"The Avatar can duplicate the effects of any known spell. When preparing his spells for the day, the avatar may sacrifice two spell slots of any given level to prepare any spell of the same lvl from his spell lists. For Example, an avatar who did not have the spell lightning bolt in his books could choose to prepare the spell by using two of his 3rd lvl spell slots for it."

I see two "Problems" in this. first The sorcerer dont need to prepare his spells and second i understand this ability that u can cast any spell u dont know

How would u "change/balance" this ability for a sorcerer? The Prereq. for this PC are Spellcaster(not wizard only) which can cast a lvl 6 spell and 3 MM-Feats.

thx

A sorceror would need the "Prepare Spell" feat to get any benefit from that class ability. I would never allow a sorceror to just use up two or three spell slots on the fly to be able to cast any spell. No way, no how.

But a Sorcerer don't need to prepare any spell. He can cast spontaneus. Why i should pay for something with a feat if i dont need to prepare spells.

Because the ability specifies that it's accessed when you prepare spells.

Means that AA isn't that hot a choice for Sorcerers.
