PDF Awards?

Now, here is the kicker: the IGF's final award show is done live online!!! All participating publishers list their award recepients should they win and that person will call if their product wins under the category for which they are nominated and give an acceptance speech. Who doesn't want to brag about their victory? With luck, we could have this take place on Mortality, which is already set up for live, online broadcasting, or invest the time and energy to do this ourselves. If our industry is dependent on computers, it should only make sense that it be presented on them.

Ladies and gentlemen, Adlon is interested in this idea and that makes these awards a definite go. So here are the questions that we need answered and, truthfully speaking, we should have these ready by next Friday. Mortality's PDF show is in one week's time and would be the perfect opportunity to announce these awards live on the air.

So, who wants in on this as far as participating in this festival and volunteering to put it together? I know that Emerald Press and myself are definitely interested to participate and volunteer. Do we agree on calling in the Independent Gaming Festival and the Spirit Awards or are there other ideas as well?

I'd call the awards themselves something else...'Spirit Awards' sounds to me a little....airy...;)
How about 'The Bookmark Awards'? or...'The Iggies' (for Independent Gamers)???

Okay, then something that personifies the enthusiasm that all of us have in our craft.

Well I see no problem giving the awards a perminant link like I do for the ENnnies as well as a spotlight/logo display for the announcment and the winners before and during the time of the event.

In general we're willing to support this idea if we don't have to do much work to do so. Already backlogged with coding that needs doing. Maybe ask ENWorld to host the voting.

And, in exchange, we'd be willing to place the RPGNow logo as a sponsor for this festival. You link to us, we link to you.

Thanks, James.

So now we have some recognition from RPGNow, and an awards show to be hosted on Mortality Radio.

How about a category like "Best Fantasy Fiction"? Not specifically D20 PDFs, but PDFs that cater to the fantasy/role-player crowd with stories, articles, etc? PDF-format e-zines would likely be among those nominated.

Just a thought. I think the awards idea is a good one.

Good idea. And therefore we should have a Best E-Zine category for RPG material. As for the fictional category, perhaps "Best Fictional Source" would allow those under the fictional category -- from e-books to e-zines -- able to be considered.
