PDF products I'd like to see

I just saw your question- the chart on page 49 has which feats are optional and which are required.

Beyond the +3 bonus, the other value of the creation feats are they act as a specialized replacement for craft wonderous item (as long as the character has the required spell casting levels). Remember this is a 3.0 book- back when spell casting wasn't a requirement for alchemy (something I wish they didn't change).

To go back on topic I would love to find a pdf about political play. Things that expand upon the idea of leadership, and or properly discuss castles of different architecture and cultures translated into d20 terms.

Chris Aylott's Dynasties and Demagogues is super good!

I'd still like to see an alternative XP system a well.

I've got plans for a series of short alternate XP systems - it seems like a great niche for an OGC publisher, and lots of people have problems with kill-based XP.

Tell me more about what you'd want from a PDF like this!

I'd like to see XP that doesn't nessessarily negate combat and killing points, but definitely has more of an emphasis on storyline, and on RPing. Possibly a system where each PC has different personal quests to fullfil during a campaign, quests that involve searching inside themselves and establishing the character's personality and stuff like that.

Luckly Mr. Cooley made the whole book OGC (except for the expected bits) so I can post this:

BEHIND THE CURTAIN: WHY ADOPT A
NEW ECONOMIC SYSTEM?

The trouble with the economic system as explained in the DMG is that it rapidly breaks down at high populations. A system of handling Profession checks that ties the possible earnings of a place of business to the economy of the community seems most reasonable. There are essentially three things that are necessary to simulate an economic system – and we will consider each in turn. These three elements are (1) total cash on hand (i.e., the amount of total cash floating around in the community), (2) the single-item threshold (i.e., the maximum amount of cash that residents are willing and/or able to pay for a single
item), and (3) the average earnings per capita.

And then he goes on to explain how each of the 3 points works with his revamping of the profession rules. It is more than a bit mathematical, but he has a chart for those who don't want to use logrithms.

I've recently gotten into PDFs, and have seen a lot of great stuff, and a lot of eh stuff.

I loved "The Pumpkin Patch" by Patrick Younts. I'd love to see the other beings mentioned in the ad and the introduction, either as a free download or even as a sequel.

In that vein, I'd like more products that add a folkloric feel to D20. Myth, folklore and fairy tales are a rich vein of inspiration for games, but so far, they've mostly been used in non-core games. Groups shouldn't have to play "Grim" to get that feel in their games, especially (as Patrick points out in "The Pumpkin Patch") as it provides a very different, and alien, feel to games, which makes fantasy games strange again, when too often they risk becoming very mundane.

I'd love to see more products that crank up the eeriness of a game, instead of the horror or the gore. Arcane magic, fey and the undead all seem ripe for this. Similar products that up the creepiness -- but not the power -- of the drow, goblins and other they-should-be-creepy creatures would be very appreciated.

I'd also like to see a product on adepts, fleshing them out beyond the bare bones description. Heck, I'd like to see a product on the core NPC classes generally.

I like the existing PDF products on holidays out there. They add a lot of flavor and verisimilitude to a setting without making it not be a fantasy world. I'd love more products in this vein, like foods and drinks (not magical, although those are fun), gods for non-adventurers (very few adventurers would be midwives or worry about the viability of the harvest, but both would be critical to a community) and so on.

Although I can always use more spells, I'd prefer they have a great deal of flavor to them. Player spell-casters can do pretty much anything at this point, especially kill their enemies. If there's going to be another spell in that category (especially combat spells), they need to be COOL. Along those lines, there are several 1E spells that have vanished from D20 -- spells like Chariot of Sustarre, Glasee and Glassteel do things that aren't possible in the SRD, and adding spells like them would be very much appreciated.

I'd also love anything that either officially or unofficially could flesh out the Redhurst setting. I'm told that Redhurst coming out at the same time as 3.5 hurt its sales, but it's an exceptional product that could use more support. Human Head has stopped their online support, but I can't believe that a school for wizards doesn't inspire more creators, especially with the next Harry Potter book only a few months away.
