pdf question

I have noticed that pdf versions of wotc products, as well as other companies, are easily found on file sharing sites. my question is, isnt downloading these illegal? or is it ok due to the OGL? if it is illegal, then why are these sites allowed to do it without being targeted by wotc? does any one know?

Yes, it is illegal. Trying to stop it would be like the music and movie industry stopping people from downloading songs and music illegally. They haven't been able to do anything about it and they have a thousand times the resources of gaming companies.

Yes, file sharing is illegal. And I believe that occasionally some sharing site or other gets shut down by the threat of legal action. But I don't think stopping the pirates is one of WotC's priorities, because it's a lot like trying to stop a river from running downhill.
