"dice hymen"

lol

It's from the first episode but it still cracks me up. WotC was very smart to engage PA and PVP. They will reach a much bigger pool of potential newbies.

Don't forget the related posts on their websites:
- Penny Arcade: Posts their character sheets, which are just the pregens, but there is so much roleplaying just filling out their names/background that it makes me smile.
- PvP: Scott comments on emails he's gotten from 4E haters. His response: "Sit on it!"

Is there a maturity warning on these podcasts?

They're hilarious, but blue as the day as long.

EDIT: Never mind. The website mentions it, but I grabbed it with iTunes like all the other D&D podcasts, and it doesn't have any warning.

Cheers,
Cam

Scott Kurtz really seems to have a mad-on for gamers lately. :\

To be honest, I get his point, but if D&D needs a game for beginners again, they really need to go back to the 3rd Revision of Basic D&D. That was a much better template than what I see from the 4e books.

Hehe. These are great.

Look, if Gabe (who's never played DnD in his life -- Jim Darkwater... heh) is running around blasting things within a few minutes of starting then the game is obviously newbie friendly.

The Rouse is obviously a decent DM who knows when to explain a rule and when to gloss over it, but it's not like he has psychic powers and is implanting the rules in their heads.

If you can start within 15 minutes and be having a good time then it's a good starter game. Period.

I thought it was one of the Chrises DMing this one?

EDIT: It's Chris Perkins

Mr. Kurtz is completely justified in these harsh comments. He's put his finger exactly on the main problem, and in my belief the only problem, with the 3.x version of D&D; The large percentage of asshats playing the game.

It's simple. Show up to the game to have fun and help the rest of the group have fun. If you can't have fun without crapping on somebody else's good time, then you're in the wrong place. Be an adult, not a munchkin.
