D&D (2024) People called me a troll but I called it that they were gonna Buff the Wizard

Turns out it can be done, once you hit 17th level and alter the base spell fireball again. I ended up missing the ability to add more modifications at higher levels, so if you want to spend a 9th level slot (easily done during downtime) you can make that force ball of yours.
no the force part you couldn't but thunder or necrotic you could

Tabby's force ball *

fireball that is force and only effects enemies has no components and has 6,000 extra ft of range will take a few weeks but will be so the best 3rd level spell ever.

*TM pending

I guess they didn't name the company Monks of the Coast

I know you're kidding around, but you raise a pretty good point. Wizards are the only one of the original core four character classes (cleric, fighter, magic-user, thief) that never existed in real life, and lots of bookish kids (and who else is going to read a game with a rulebook of a few hundred pages?) identify with them with their high INTs. Add that to the fact that, since magic isn't real, it's kind of hard to say it can't do X, and you have a natural tendency to make wizards very powerful.

(And while we're at it, they should do like ENWorld and rename them Martial Artists--totally different archetype, and much cooler-sounding.)
