Permanency & familiars

As per the PHB, when a the master casts a spell upon himself, & if the familiar is within 5', then the familiar too is affected by the spell. For example "Detect Magic". Now if the master then casts permanency on himself (or the Detect Magic depending on your view point) Now does this...

A) for the same XP cost, also affect the familiar granting the ability of permanent "Detect Magic"?
B) for double the XP cost, also affect the familiar granting the ability of permanent "Detect Magic"?
C) only affect the master?
D) other...

Please don't just pick A,B,C, or D but explain why you've picked the answer you have.

I'm inclined to go with the DM side of my brain & say C) it only affects the master. It would seem like the PC would be "getting away with something" if the permanency affected both master & familiar for the same cost as just the master. And as we all know in 3e that's just wrong. :) ;)

The Share Spell ability work only if the familiar stays within 5' of its master for the duration of the shared spell if the duration is anything other than "Instantaneous". It seems to me that this would be a significant hamper to Permanency enhanced shared spells.

C.
As soon as the famliar moves more than 5' away from its master, any shared spell effects end. They do not restart again when it comes back within 5'.

I suppose that if you had a toad or similar low-mobility familiar, and you never ever let it more than 5' away from you, it could share your permanent Detect Magic. That won't gain you a whole lot, though.
