Permanency or Magic Items

Large size is a PAIN in dungeons.

I found out the hard way. Had to squeeze through the foot of the staircase with a combat going on and THEN it was a small 3x3 room.

Oh btw whats the big deal? You can have enlarge person cast with permanency. Just have your player do that. AND it wouldnt take up a gear slot!

I'd note that Enlarge Person is one of the spells that has a write-up under Permanency. That use of Permanency has a minimum caster level of 9 and a 500xp cost. If you consider that in the cost of the magic item, it raises the price by quite a bit.

It's not a problem in an item, because you can simply take the item off when you wish to be medium.

Not to Hijack your thread Sam500, but in reading permanency, if used with a legal spell say darkvision? What happens when a dispel magic is used ?

Permanencied spells the caster places on himself can only be dispelled by a caster of higher caster level (but note that the caster level is set at the time of casting, so even if the caster subsequently levels up, the caster level that must be beaten remains the same).

Permanencied spells cast on another creature, object or location are just as vulnerable to dispelling as they would be if they weren't permanent.

The Spell Compendium has the spell Enlarge Person, Greater (Wiz 3), that lasts for hours per level. At high level, that's effectively continuous.

Using the greater spell as a guide, the cost of a continuous item would be:

5th CL * 3rd Spl Lvl * 2000gp = 30,000gp

Which more reasonable than 10k gp. ;)
