Person of Interest

I hadn't watched this show when it originally ran from 2011-2016. My wife and I started on it a couple of years ago, and have even making our way slowly through it (we aren't binge-watchers, you see).

It is now on HBO Max, and I got to the finale tonight. I think it is one of the most finely crafted ends to a show I have seen in a long time.

It was a very good show, with a heavy vibe of the original "The Equalizer" TV series.

I loved the show, though I think season five suffered from lower production values and fewer episodes.

It’s an amazing show that (sadly) flew under the radar when it was released.

Most people assumed, incorrectly, it was just another bad procedural show- a CSI or Criminal Minds. It is so … much … more than that.

Person of Interest was a wonderful show, IMO, with a brilliant and well-paced unveiling of the larger plot.

I liked it enough to start buying hard/digital copies of the seasons, I think I'm only missing the last two. I did feel that the taking out Elias was a bit of a cop out imo.

That is... incorrect. CBS noted that it got the highest test ratings of any drama in 15 years. CSI had been on Thursday nights for a decade, and they moved it out of the way for PoI when they saw how well it was Testing. It became the fastest growing drama between its first and second seasons, and its second season reached the #5 spot on TV at the time. It won a couple People's Choice awards as well.

The show was finally cancelled, not for bad ratings, but because it was owned by Warner Brothers, but made by CBS. Which meant that while it performed well, CBS was getting a smaller cut of the pie than they wanted. They at least had the good graces to inform the writing staff of the shortened final season, so they could wrap up the plot.
