Hmm, I semi-recall that if you enclose it quotes it should preserve the full filenames

xcopy "c : \*.*" "X:"

or something to that effect.

I thought of that after I got my batch file working... I'll try that next time I set a copy up.

Use the backup software built into windows, then you can feed it into scheduler and make the entire backup process automatic.

Agreed. It's simple, does what you want, free, and you don't need to install any third-party apps. If you're just backing up photos, it's perfect.
