PH3 Feats Excerpt: Superior Implements, Versatile Expertise, and Unarmored Agility

Looks like avengers got their AC back. :p

EDIT: Oh, Versatile Expertise seems to be the replacement for Focused Expertise, and is probably along the lines of: pick one weapon and one implement (for weapon/implement users), or two weapons (for dual-wielders), or two implements (for wizards with Second Implement).

Skill powers also look like they are going to cost a feat.

In not getting the book, but the feats look pretty good. Nothing much surprising, but I'll be interested to see how they do the superior implements. That is what I'm mostly interested in in the books.

The added cost of skill powers guarantees that they will now never see the light of day among the folks I game with. What a waste.

the article said:
Unarmored Agility — +2 AC while wearing cloth armor or no armor
I wonder if there will be another feat (which requires Unarmored Agility, 13 Str and 13 Con) which grants you an additional +1 AC.

the article said:
Iron Resolve of Zerthadlun Githzerai +2 to saving throws if you have at least 1 power point
Not sure if I like the return of the Power Point Reserve.

I'm waiting for:

"Everything Expertise"
Benefit: Your character gets +1 to hit with all attacks. At level 15, this increases to +2. At level 25, this increases to +3. This bonus doesn't stack with any other "Expertise" feats you have. If you are level 5 or higher, gain an additional feat.

Unarmored Agility seems like an admission that Cloth Armor is not good enough to see much use given that Sorcerers and Wizards can take Leather Armor with a single feat (unless a build is seriously optimizing for offense, +2 AC for a feat is hard to pass up).

I like what I see.

I think a feat cost for skill powers would be fine as long as it's not a multiclass feat style replacement.

As a side note, I'd like to see feats for general hybrid combinations. Feats that you can only qualify for if, say, you combine a Martial and an Arcane class. Or, feats that require you to mix roles i.e. Striker/Leader.

That would be general enough so you don't have to have feats for every possible combination of class/class but specific enough as to not provide unintended bonuses. Of course, it still will provide unintended bonuses, but more controlled at least.

Well, that depends on whether or not a Skill Power has to replace a Utility power or if it is in addition to?

Well it says: "Gain skill power of your level or lower"
Meanwhile, the Multiclass feat table in PHB1 says for Novice/Acolyte/Adept Power: "Swap one encounter/utility/daily power with one of multiclass"
(Emphasis mine in both cases.)

Seems like a good indication that skill powers are in addition to your regulars. I agree that it would suck if they were instead of regular powers, since they're usually weaker.

Hafted Defense: +1 AC and Reflex while wielding polearm or staff in two hands

Finally I'll be able to play the polearm wielding character I've ever wanted, wuxia style! Yay!

While I haven't read the stuff, isn't it possible that there are 2 ways to gain Skill Powers?
1. Swap a Utility for a Skill Power of that level.
2. Use a feat to buy a Skill Power, which would then be in addition to your normal Utilities.
I like this a lot. There have been times when I have wanted a Skill Power, but didn't really want to give up a Utility.
