PHB II has a spell, that does nothing. ;)

Name was Rouse, I think.

The spell has no effect (unless you count the flavor text :p).

Or has it been errataed?

I don't have SC, but there's a spell called Rouse in PHB2. And the effect (waking sleeping creatures) is listed in the flavor text only. The actual spell description only lists whom it doesn't affect.

And I don't think it needs errata, since the effect is stated even if in the wrong place.

I found rouse to be very very funny. I don't read the flavor text at all, so there I was chugging along reading spell descriptions and I get to this one. Read it. Read it again. Read it again. Huh... it doesn't do anything? So I point this out to my friend who owns it, and he reads it, and he's confused too. So then I read the whole thing carefully, including the flavor text. Finally it clicks!

It took about five to ten minutes of study for me to figure out what that stupid spell did. No, I'm not proud of that, but I can laugh at myself. ;)

Can someone post the actual spell description and accompanying flavor text?

Someone surely can, I don't have either book (yet :)), so can only work off memory (but since I already confused PHB II with SC...). It was just something I recalled from browsing the books recently, and thought it was funny enough to mention. :D

Los text de la flavour:
"With a loud snap of your fingers, you cause any sleeping creatures in the spell's area to awaken."

Spell description text:
"This spell has no effect on creatures that are unconscious due to being reduced to negative hit points, or that have taken nonlethal damage in excess of their current hit points."

There are plenty of spells in the spell compendium/PHB II which don't make any sense unless you read the intro text.

There's also a spell which really doesn't do anything except exist. There's a 4th level spell, castable as an immediate action, which forces a caster to make a concentration check or lose a spell they're casting.

The problem is that any hostile spell will do the same thing to a caster, so any immediate action hostile spell will do this. It seems kind of weak to not make a whole spell devoted to distraction a little bit better.
