I liked what I read from my shiny, new happy PHB2. Right up til I got to page 160.

Seems my book is missing pages 161 to 192.

Weep a tear for me....

Dude... that seriously sucks.

Guess it's return city for you. :p Did you get it through amazon or a brick n morter shop?

That's one nice thing about physical locations... you can se exactly what you're getting before you get it, and returns/exchanges generally happena lot quicker.

The same thing happened with my preordered 3.0 PH. 32 pages right in the combat section. Very frustrating as I was reading it straight through and enjoying it up to that point. I had to wait a while for the return to come through to properly find out how AoOs worked as well as things like grapple, etc. (Grapple still has too much ambiguity in the written descriptions).

Brick & Mortar fortunately. I'm about to go exchange it as soon as it's break time here at work.

I had a Forgotten Realms book once way back in 2e days that was like someone took a bunch of the pages, folded hem over and bound them into the book fold side out...

I'm not really even sure how something like that happens.

Malfunction at the printer. IIRC, 16 or 32 (or some other power of 2) pages is one "signature" -- a big sheet of paper is printed with multiple pages, then folded & cut into separate pages, and bound into the book. Sometimes, something goes wrong with the process, and a signature can be dropped, doubled, turned the wrong way, etc.

My copy of Atlas's 3e bestiary book (Penumbra Bestiary? Something like that) has the first 16 or 32 pages twice -- first, upside down, then right side up. The rest of the book is fine.

Yeah, books are printed in 16 page incriments; that's why you rarely see a book with a page count that's not divisible by 16; if, for example, you have a book with 67 pages, a lot of the time the printer will go ahead and charge you as if it had 80 pages. But I digress..

I think this is the first time I've had a problem with any printed book since I accidentally picked up one of those "Malkavian" copies of Vampire the Masquerade (the whole book was printed upside down..it happened to a couple of hundred copies).

Whew. Made it up to the store, exchanged it, made sure this copy had all the pages and got back to work in 15 minutes! :-D
