Pikachu D20! - please don't hurt me

Tonguez

A suffusion of yellow
I was watching an episode of Pokemon with my son this morning (okay I was watching it he was destroying the house in the background:P) and I noticed that some of the PokeMonsters are actually quite good (and certainly no worse then many of the things in the MM)

so has anyone ever converted the Pokemonsters to D20 stats? (personally I think the Onyx - the big rock snake thing would be a great DnD Monster and Mewtwo (the Psion Cat creature) works well in a Psionics campaign)

Further could a Summoner class be used to model the Pokemon Master - okay Summon Monster 1 Pikachu (lightning elemental giant dire mouse MWAHAHAHA)

and what about the whole Pokemon concept (rival summoners doing battle) - really no different to the whole idea of the MAGIC tcc except that the Summoners are 10 yrs old!:D

Dude, I would stand behind this, if only to have the stats for the monsters to use in my games (there's some sweet wee beasties there), and to pad out the summon monster lists (seeing how sadly few they are now).

Heck, if someone went through the effort of doing this (someone whith a proper knowledge of the games), I'd even host the work on my site (it'd fit with the whole videogame d20 themes).

It's got some sweet potential, but I can't bring myself to do enough "research" (like buying the games or the strategy guides for 'em) to do it cool.

I mean, aside from being a reptile, isn't a Shocker Lizard basically Pikachu? :)

I'd support this...and there's no reason it has to be as "little kiddie" as it is in the cartoons either. Boil it down...a serpent of rock, an electric rodent, a flying star, a hairless cat with mental powers...and it actually might sound pretty sweet. :)

Hey, these could be great for embarrasing TPKs!
DM: As you are walking through the forest, 2 BIG yellow mice jump out at you.
Players: Erm...we attack.
DM: Too late, they both use their Thunderbolt attacks on you. Now a level 100 pikachu with 15 carbons...*DM scribbles behind screen*...that's 1000d6 damage each! Wiat till the guys hear about this!
Players: *develop anime-style throbbing cross-veins*
Players: *Pull out Giant Hammers and chase DM*

LIGHTNING MOUSE
("Pikachu")
Tiny Magical Beast (Electricity)
-------------
Hit Dice: 1d10 (5 hp)
Initiative: +2 (+2 Dex)
Speed: 15 ft., climb 15 ft.
AC: 14 (+2 size, +2 Dex)
Attacks: Bite +3 melee
Damage: Bite 1d3-1
Face/Reach: 2.5 ft. by 2.5 ft./0 ft.
Special Attacks: Charged Attack, Spark, Call Lightning
Special Qualities: Scent, Electricity Resistance 20
Saves: Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +1
Abilities: Str 8, Dex 15, Con 10, Int 4, Wis 12, Cha 11
Skills: Balance +14, Climb +6
Feats: Weapon Finesse (bite) (B)

Lightning mice superficially resemble normal rats or mice, only their ears are more pointed than round, they have bright yellow fur, and their tails are typically jagged. This rather comical appearance belies their potent powers, however, and many who have taken them lightly have regretted it.

Charged Attack: Lightning mice can add +1d4 electric damage to any melee attack they choose.

Spark: Lightning mice can send a leaping spark along the ground. They can hit a target within 30 ft. of themselves with this. They must roll a ranged touch attack to hit the target (bonus +3), and, if they hit, the target is dealt 1d8 points of electricity damage.

Call Lightning: At will, a lightning mouse can produce a Call Lightning effect as a standard action. The environment must be able to support this effect, just like the spell.

Skills: Lightning mice gain a +8 racial bonus to balance checks, and can use their deterity modifier for climb checks.

Summoning Lightning Mice: A lightning mouse can be summoned using Summon Monster II or Summun Nature's Ally II. Alternately, a Monster Trainer can capture a lightning mouse as a 2nd level creature.

Lightning Mice Familiars: A lightning mouse can be taken as a familiar at 3rd character level.

Advancement: Lightning mice advance as magical beasts. Every HD they gain increases the level one can aquire them as a familiar by 1. Their maximum advancment range is 5 HD. At 6 HD, they transform into Storm Rats ("Riachu")

I'm about to really embarass myself. Here goes:
Pikachu don't evolve into Raichu. Pikachu continue levelling up until you use a thunder stone on them to turn them into Raichu, at which point they get numerous stat bonusues but stop learning new attacks.:o

In a very old game, I allowed a charmander as a familiar.

It was second ed, so I figured the stronger the wizard the more powerful the familiar.

Also the IN for Pikachu should be higher. he has at times shown that he is more intelligent than his trainer. lol
