Pikachu D20! - please don't hurt me

Well, mainly because it was aimed at children, and children make fun of pokemon, as they are too immature to appreciate it. Thus, the d20 system, with it's older fanbase, works much better. Also, while many people would be extremely adverse to playing a game where they know they will encounter a pikachu, they won't realizes that this small yellow rat, with a spiked tail, large black eyes, long pointed ears, and reddish-brown cheeks is a pikachu, so you can set it on them. Now, if only I could find a worthy opponent in the pokemon TCG.

We liked Pokemon Jr here aat Ambient, back when the kids were big into Pokemon.

Of course, soon thereafter they created POKEd20

So far there is very little done on the site, but that's mostly because the girls have other interests now. Honestly, they only get up to watch TV on Saturday morning to see the science and dinosaurs shows. They couldn't care less about Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Actually scared me to hear them BOTH say that.

Man, I love my kids.

BTW, as Capelan pointed out, PokeD20 can be found at:

I've contemplated doing all of the Pokemon, but I've since given up. However, one creature survived the disillusionment...

“Aw, how cute!” Many adventurers during their first (and last) encounter with a pikachu.
Pikachus are horribly evil demons in the guise of an adorable rodent.
A pikachu appears to be a slightly anthropomorphic rodent, about 1 foot in height with yellow fur, large, soulful eyes and a lightning bolt-shaped tail. In fact, pikachus (which is a rough translation of Japanese for “gleaming mouse”) are one of the most hateful and sadistic creatures in the multiverse, with a taste for sarcasm, domination and torture. Oddly, although they communicate telepathically, they accompany their messages with vocalization, in the form of their name and it’s component syllables (sample dialogue: “Pika pi pi, pika, pikachu” for “To be or not to be, that is the question.”) Pikachus are brilliant tacticians, and rival mariliths as the best generals of demon armies. With the need for more leaders increasing as the Blood War rages futilely, pikachus are becoming more common on the battlefields.
Combat
Pikachus prefer to let their minions and dretch armies fight for them; if caught alone (on a reconnaissance mission, for example) they fight with their spell-like abilities, especially their lightning bolts. Unlike other demons, they have no qualms about summoning other tanar’ri.
Aura of Cute (Su): All creature coming within 10 feet of a pikachu must make a Will save (DC 22) or be under the effect of a dominate monster spell. They can suppress this ability at will. This aura can be dispelled, but the pikachu can raise it again as a free action.
Spell-like Abilities: At will-bestow curse, chaos hammer, deeper darkness, desecrate, detect good, detect law, inflict critical wounds, lightning bolt and unholy blight. 1/day- chain lightning, word of chaos. All abilities are as the spells cast by an 8th level sorcerer (DC 16 + spell level)
Resist Capture (Ex): Pikachus are unnaturally quick beings, and this combines with their resistances to make them difficult to catch. They cannot be caught in a net or a tanglefoot bag. They are immune to webs, natural and magical. They are immune to hold monster, although a specially crafted spell might work.
Summon Tanar’ri (Sp): Once per day, a pikachu can summon 4d10 dretches with a 75% chance of success or one pikachu with a 20% of success.
Feats: A pikachu receives Deflect Arrows as a bonus feat, even though it doesn’t have all of the prerequisites.

Demiurge out.

I'm about to really embarass myself. Here goes:
Pikachu don't evolve into Raichu. Pikachu continue levelling up until you use a thunder stone on them to turn them into Raichu, at which point they get numerous stat bonusues but stop learning new attacks.:o

*WARNING* Nerd confirmation ahead.

Acctually, Pikachu does eventually evolve into Raichu. The thunder stone just makes it happen faster. The Raichu that Pikachu fought had been artificially evolved, and thus did not know the Pikachu agility attacks. Pikachu turned down being evolved by the stone so as to be able to evolve on his own.

Jondor, this is incorrect (and I'm not saying this to prove I'm a bigger nerd than you are either). Some pokemon will not evolve naturally unless given a evolution stone. The Raichu that Ash's Pikachu fought had been evolved very early on because Lt. Surge gave it a Thunder Stone as soon as he could, and had not let it learn some attacks that it would have as a Pikachu. Pikachu turned down the Thunder Stone because it wanted to win on its own terms - as a Pikachu.

I just want to reiterate, there are a lot of pokemon that do NOT evolve naturally, needing a stone, or to be traded, etc. Pikachu could be raised to level 100 and it would not evolve on it's own.

It doesn't help that, as far as I can tell, most of the Saturday morning cartoons now suck. I haven't woken up early on a Saturday morning since FOX quit showing X-Men and Spider-Man.

Korimyr, you are so right. Those two cartoons were probably the best we've seen on Fox since they stopped showing them. If you don't have cable (and sometimes even then), it's just not worth waking up on Saturdays mornings for the cartoons anymore.

How true this statement is - I hang out all week for reruns of the Powerpuff Girls!

I'm just so disappointed with the new cartoons - I'm afraid Beybladez and Omnibots (sp) just don't cut it in comparison...
