Pikachu don't evolve into Raichu. Pikachu continue levelling up until you use a thunder stone on them to turn them into Raichu, at which point they get numerous stat bonusues but stop learning new attacks

Seriously, this is why other people need to do these...I just thought I'd take a stab at it, but my limited knowledge is showing.

This is really interesting, I would love to set one on my PCs. I've statted out some monster rancher creatures, but no pokemon, and I would love to see a conversion to the d20 system, as it is rare that people mock monsters they barely avoided a TPK at the hands of.

Ooh, I love this. Being a former Poke-Enthusiast, I'll help, if I can...

What should be tackled, however, is how the little guys gain abilites as they level up. Perhaps a note saying at what HD the abilites become available? Say, Pikachu gets Spark automatically but then gets, say, Agility (short-term haste, I'd say) at their third/fourth HD increase?

What happens when players try to heckle their DMs into letting their Pokemon take class levels?

Yeah, that's how I'd do it.

Like above, note in Advancement at which HD they gain more powers.

Want 'em to take class levels, just Awaken 'em. Like any other monster, they can take levels in their class, or monster levels when that happens. They don't gain their other powers if they take class levels.
