Pinpointing an opponent, enough to target a spell?

Thanks for all the info guys. It's too bad that even with Hear the Unseen, Blind-Fighting doesn't help since it only works for melee attacks :( :(.

Anyway, all this is in my insane quest to have an npc wizard that's blind. I was curious to see what the possabilies are for such a character. I suspect his familiar will be the main spell delivery system.

you have to admit its kind of cool to have your familiar deliver :)
also get a crow or some other one that can speak :
you "we're being attacked ,i got fireball ready"
the crow " aim 200 ft to your 1 oclock"
you "did we get them"
crow "ah i love the smell of naplam in the morning"

Can you use a Targeted spell at Range Touch? Is that what the phrase "or touch the target" means?
No, it just means that when you're touching the target who has total concealment from you, you know where it is well enough to use a targeted spell on it. Touching the invisible guy next to you and casting Hold Person doesn't change the spell to a Range: Touch spell.

There are a few things that will help with this. Chain of eyes (Sorc/Wiz 2) from Spell Compendium will let you see through another creature's eyes for 1 hour per level - cast it on your familiar. The Combat Familiar feat from PHBII allows a familiar holding a touch spell to enter an opponent's area without provoking an AoO.

How about a spell like Wail of the Banshee?
"Area: One living creature/level within a 40-ft.-radius spread"
Do you have to target the individuals within the spread.

Also, any chance that someone can either email me (pab_garcia@hotmail.com) or post a more comprehensive description of the Combat Familiar feat? I won't be able to get the PHB II for a few more weeks :(.

Okay, I agree it doesn't change it to a Touch spell (i.e. no critical threat range, etc.), but it would in fact require a touch attack and not provoke an AoO, right? (Assuming your opponent can see, but you can't.)

No. You're not holding the charge of a melee touch spell, so you're not threatening an area when you make the touch attack to locate your foe, therefore you do provoke an AoO.

After this is resolved, and assuming you have successfully touched your opponent, then you can cast a targeted spell at them, which will provoke an AoO unless you cast defensively. Since you will need to continue touching your target whilst casting the spell, you'll need two hands free to do this if the spell has somatic or material components.
