Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

The smoke drifting up out of Rum Cay is lighter this morning -- the residents of the pirate camp there are presumably sleeping in -- but there's enough to be able to use it to navigate the raft to the roughly 12 miles to the southeast.

Equidistant o the southwest, the Isle of Yuma stretches along the horizon, low and long. At the northernmost tip, there is some sort of outcropping, but without a spyglass, your crew of survivors can't be sure what it is.

((You don't want to know how many times I've run this adventure and just now realized the hex map includes all the useful distances right there. Circle back once I've run this adventure a dozen more times and I'll really have it down!))

Safari scans the sea for any more threats.

"So mateys, what will be our poison? Rum Cay or Yuma?"

The voyage toward Rum Cay is slow. The raft floats, but leaks, and with its single mast, it's hard to keep aimed in the precise direction wanted by the castaways.

But just after noon, the north shore of the island is close enough to make out, although still too far to swim to. It's about 10 miles long, with white beaches and rolling hills largely covered in trees. Some sea caves are visible on the western edge of the north shore.

"Port Nelson is on the far shore," Scaggs says, pointing at the trickle of smoke rising over the trees.

"I'm going to stay here and be a fisherman," Knives says, miserably clutching his aching leg stump.

((OK, so several obvious choices: Land now and hike across the island, land and check out the sea caves, sail around the island to Port Nelson by taking either an east or west path around the coast.))

((No supplies. Not too interested in checking caves yet. If we go by land, maybe we can sneak up on the port and find a mark. Maybe we wait till night to steal food and steal a boat without anyone knowing we are around. Or we just go to the port.

Do the caves look like they are similar to the ones on our map?))
