Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

The parrot wheels dangerously close to the kraken, but fails to draw its attention, even as Bedlam wounds the ghostly beast once more. A slap from a ghostly tentacle sends Safari tumbling off the raft, out into the waves.

((d6 damage from the tentacle.))

But then Taran rips the ghost of a harpoon free from the great beast and there's a shudder that ripples through the water, rocking the boat, and calming the waves.

The beast's great eye appears to see clearly for the first time, able to see that these living beings on and around the raft aren't the ones that gravely wounded him so long ago.

It would be wrong to say that Krolligoth shows any sort of gratitude, as that is likely beyond the ability of kraken, even living ones. But it focuses on Taran for a moment and then, with a flick of its mighty tentacles, it rockets off into the depths, vanishing from sight.

The parrots lands on the raft looking around with a self-important air, as if he had any role whatsoever in what transpired and says "That was a close one, but we prevailed in the end!"

Tumbling from the raft, Safari fears for his life in the deep blue sea. The blow leaves him shaken and battered, but he's still alive! He kicks and swims towards the raft.

Damage = d6 = 4. Safari has 13 HP, so 13-4 = 9 left.

Desiree clambers out of the sea, looking like a bedraggled cat. His mangy hair and beard are wet and matted against his face. He lies on his back on the makeshift deck, catching his breath.

"Well, that were a close call. "

Then, to the sky he shouts, "Full sails, let's find that port!"

Safari likewise clambers onto to the raft, longingly looking into the depths, where his runic machete now rests on the bottom of the sea. At Desiree's command, he tends to the sails, making sure that the kraken isn't sneaking up on them from the depths.

((OK, so here's what the Brute's trusted weapon feature says: "It will never break, but you drop it on a Fumble." So it looks like, in this circumstance, it does drop to the bottom of the sea. But since it's a class feature, we'll let Safari replace it as soon as is reasonable -- which is very soon, in this case.))
