Pirated DVDs for sale at GenCon

Menexenus

First Post
By my count, there were 3 different merchants selling pirated DVDs at GenCon. Why does GenCon permit this illegal activity to take place year after year?

At GenCon this year I learned that White Wolf recently settled a lawsuit with Sony over the blatant copyright infringement against White Wolf's World of Darkness setting found in the movie "Underworld". If gaming publishers are so dedicated to preserving their copyrights, why are they also willing to take part in a convention that year after year allows merchants to sell videos that infringe on others' copyrights?

Just wondering...

Yeah I thought that was a little crazy myself, I half expected to see some pirated pdf's printed out or on disc. There were some tempting "steals" though but I know if I bought one I could never live with myself, and the feds would rush in and tackle me ruining my con.

Hi-

After my stint in Iraq, our unit was sent to camp wolf kuwait for customs inpections of soldiers, airman and so on. Well, let me tell ya, copyrights over seas is pretty much ignored. With the proper chip installed into your PS 2 or XBOX, you can play the latest release for just 5 bucks a pop. You can also get any DVD for 5 bucks too.

Pretty bad aint it?

:) When I got to Kosovo waaay back in the day (when I was a Government Assassin), some Airmen there pitched in and gave me $300 for my Original Playstation and 5 discs.

Strangely though, when I first got to Germany and they went through my bags they confiscated my issue of Playboy I got at the airport in Maryland, and they also took my Dragon Mags. G.D. Army LOL

Movies weren't the only bootlegs. There was also a vendor there selling copies of the LoTR replica swords.
