Pirate's Guide to Freeport -- Impressions?

I was just over at RPGNow and they are doing a Christmas in July sale today and tomorrow. Green Ronin is participating so you can get the Pirate's Guide PDF (and all their other stuff) for 25% off.

Thought you fence sitters might want to know. :)

I like Freeport (especially the grittier and Cthulhu-mythos elements), and the lack of 3E stats is a huge selling point for me. I bought Goodman's recent Judges Guild remakes, and I think they're great, but I hate buying a book and having a large percentage of it being stat blocks that I won't use. Anyway, I'll definitely pick up the Pirate's Guide.

Yeah, I noticed that myself, and it was enough to get be to buy it. :)

I've only skimmed through it so far, but I really like what I see! I'm glad I got it. I think that I'll use it for a Rolemaster Classic game in a few months.

Is it cool looking? how big is the world?

Edit: How big are the maps, i.e. how zoomable are they? When printed, how large are they?

Thanks.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. The colours are a bit dark and sombre, but that suits the setting. The continent is about 2500 miles x 2500 miles. As for the world, it's potentially as large as you want it to be...

Actually, I would love to get larger/higher res copies of the PDF maps, especially the city map. Right now, I can't read a few of the street names even when I zoom in, and zoom starts to pixelate at about 180% in Adobe. Perhaps Green Ronin can do an update on the map files at some point.

Otherwise, this is an excellent supplement and can't wait for the True20 guide to come out. :)

Yeah, I gave in and so far, I'm happy I did. However, I too have problems reading some of the street names and rivers and the like on the continent map in particular.

I do hope that GR will do something. It would be unfortunate if there hould be a blemish on what so far looks like a winnner :)
