Pirate's Guide to Freeport -- Impressions?

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - it's the only letter I know

Sounds great.

Does anyone know when the d20 supplement comes out? I'm getting anxious here (I can't remember the last time I was anxious about a RPG book).

Any favorite parts to this Guide that stand out for you? Chris and Rob, how about you guys?

I'm really happy with how the Beyond Freeport chapter came out. This is the (optional) part of the book in which the Freeport is blown out into a full campaign setting.

The d20 Freeport Companion is a Fall release. However, we've also got a new Freeport adventure coming out in August as part of our Bleeding Edge line. This is a mid-level d20 adventure called Dark Wings Over Freeport, which also includes True20 stats.

Well, I can’t say I… ah… missed out on Black Sails. I never played the adventure and while you’ve outlined the role gorilla’s played in the adventure, I am curious.

Sodomy? Really?
Sorry if I wasn't clear: my sodomy comment was regarding Crisis in Freeport and the new, "more adult" tone for Freeport.

Black Sails Over Freeport is low on sodomy, high on silliness. It does have a giant flying crystal skull, robot skeletons made of human body parts, a villain who makes you experience his entire life from childbirth to adulthood, an island full of warring clones, undead military training grounds, a battle for orc civil rights...the list goes on and on. And yet, my players enjoyed it and I loved running it. It'll show up eventually in my story hour as the conclusion to my campaign.

So anyhoo, back to the Pirate's Guide and your regularly scheduled programming.

This that the model for the future, that books will have d20 and True20 stat? I'm not upset, just asking.

What are your fav bits from the PGtF?

We've been offering free downloads with True20 stats for all the Bleeding Edge adventures since the line debuted. For Dark Wings Over Freeport we decided to add a few pages to the module and include them inside to ensure that the first three Freeport products of the new line could all be used together off the shelf. For the main Bleeding Edge line, we'll likely just continue making the True20 stats available as free downloads.

Some of my favorite new bits include Bloodsalt (the new district), the cold war going on between crime lords Finn and Mr. Wednesday, and the Beyond Freeport chapter.

Talien,

Funny I liked Black Sails just for the reasons you mentioned.

Chris and Patrick,

Thanks! I look forward to seeing more Freeport goodness in the months to come.

Are there plans for more Bleeding Edge Freeport adventures at this time?

In a way all BE adventures are Freeport adventures. We've set all of them in part of the larger Freeport worlds, the Ivory Ports, and with the release of the Pirate's Guide BE fans can learn more about that setting. Dark Wings Over Freeport is the only one set in the city proper, though it's possible we may do more in the future. It's worth noting that there's an intro adventure in each rules companion as well.
