D&D 4E Planar Adventures and the New 4e Cosmology

My Midwood campaign, when it ends, is going to have several sequel possibilities, along with a change to 4E. I've always wanted to run with the fey elements that didn't really get screen time in the original campaign, so I fully expect the Feywild (even if it's just a small corner of it) to play a part in the sequel, especially since a number of the B-level threats to the barony can be traced back to the mysterious Lords of Rivenoak. At some point, the party ranger and some of the others are going to want to have a long talk with them.

Oh I will be running H1 as soon as I can get my hands on it and hopefully expand it into a mini-campaign...

Might I suggest looking at "The Barrens" by F. Paul Wilson then. Will-o-The-Wisps used within a distinctly lovecraftian environment. Plus, he's an awesome writer.

I'll look it up thanks. LC is one of my favourite genre's. I find it hard to introduce into DND though as the story lines tend to be low combat and slow moving. Although I'd love to run something like the "mountains of madness" storyline.

I'm going to start playing up the aberration link more as one of my players (my sis) is always asking if this is an aberration (her dwarf gets an extra to hit them)...

H2 and H3 are supposedly going to be connected to H1, so you may not have to do that much work to make a campaign out of them.

That is what I am hoping. I can add all the pol stuff from DDI, fluff from the core books and of course my own homebrew tint.

I am looking forward to it. I havent had time to prepare homebrew in a long time, I have a feeling that 4e will give enough out of the box to make this possible.

I forgot to mention. The story "From the Barrens" is a short story, and you can find it in the collection "Cthulhu 2000" by Del Ray publishing, and "The Barrens and others" by Tor/Forge.

- PCs must rescue a dead relative from the Shadowfell - or perhaps just find and talk to him/her

I was thinking something similar -- perhaps in the transition from Paragon to Epic: in order to rescue their friend's soul, they must travel to the Raven Queen's domain and treat with her. In return for her boon, she demands a mission from them, perhaps thwarting Vecna or Orcus in their plots against her.

Yes. I really like the fluff bit about how the Raven Queen's true name has been lost along with her abandoned Dominion in the Astral Sea and how Orcus is obsessed with finding that lost Dominion in hopes of learning her true name so he can take her place. That sets up a) lots of cool adventure sites and b) lots of cool encounters ...

I'd love to incorporate Sigil with the change in the cosmos and the death of the Lady of Pain:

The Lady of Pain was found dead nearly four months ago in the Ditch, her body torn to shreds by the once-loyal Dabus. Sigil has become a virtual battlefield, as factions clamor over one another attempting to wrestle Sigil under their thumb. An ambitious primey rises from amongst the throng of the Hive, forging the foundations of a grand alliance to unify the factions once again. But can he save Sigil from war-like Tiefling pilgrims, recent immigrants from the Astral Sea who preach the faith of the dead god Aoskar? And why have the Lady's mysterious Dabus found allies within Aoskar's faith?
