Planar Ally Question

Suppose you are from an alternate material plane. You know someone you would specifically like to call to your world and call on your deity to bring that individual to you. Will Planar Ally (any version) do this? Is the spell just limited to "outsiders" or can people from alternate Material Planes count as well?

Thanks!

By the book, only elementals and outsiders, and only ones that are "allies" of your deity to boot. However, you do have the option of choosing which particular outsider is sent to you (although the deity can always decline).

I would suggest gate for general interplanar travel/commuting purposes.

The Lesser Planar Ally spell (which the others are based off) makes it clear that your deity gets the last word on the request. And since the ally sent to you is supposed to be one that serves your deity, the creature you want may not fit the bill. Plus, many gods get upset at being treated as a delivery service, so maybe another spell (Gate?) would be better.

I understand Gate would be the ideal spell for the situation, but you know what....the players don't have and probably won't get that spell.

I understand the deity has the final say, but from reading the spell....it seems like it is a possibility, albeit a small one.
