Planes-oriented PRCs

Haven't tried them yet, as I haven't had a group that wanted to explore the planes yet. I finally havea group that might like to, yet one of the campaigns makes that impossible, and the other one I don't think the DM would go that direction. However, I think many of them sound very fun and someday I hope to use them.

Havent tried them yet, but I have a player who is keen on the Planar champion IMC - I mean hey - see invis at 2nd level....

I personally like the spellcaster PRC. (I forget what it is called, at the moment.) You get +1 caster level each level, and FOUR skill points with a variety of class skills that many spellcasters wouldnt normally have access to. PLUS, of course, the actual unique abilities that involve planar travel.

It's also not a particularly difficult PRC to qualify for, in terms of its requirements.

To me, its one of the most appealing prestige classes available for wizards or sorcerers.

Also, I should mention that it has a cool picture in the book.

Has anybody actually tried this PRC?

really, candidus?

the Planeshifter doesn't seem particularly useful to me in a non-plane hopping game. planar survival and morphic stability are useless on the prime material (although planar area swap is really wicked:D )

(and the they don't get any spell progression at levels 1, 5 and 9)

IMC, Dungeons and Cthulhus which is set on the Great Wheel, one of the PCs has a cohort who is a 7th level Planeshifter. It's pretty cool. Another recurring NPC is a Gatecrasher, which has also turned out to be pretty spiffy. None of the PCs have tried those prestige classes, but who knows that the future will bring? :)

I think all of those PrCs are all pretty spiffy. The Planeshifter's Planar Swap might be sort of powerful though. Right now the party has a comedic Ooze Mephit Rog3/Gatecrasher1 sidekick who also serves as the party's planar guide right now. Since they just went to Sigil and the Outer Planes, his abilities should come really in handy.

My campaign has Agar, a diviner/planeshifter/alienist, and Tao, a ranger/cleric/divine agent. Both people like the prestige classes quite a bit.

In our current game, we have a Fighter/Paladin/Divine Champion/Planar Champion. I built it for a new player. He LOVES the character, which pretty much completely rocks.

After seeing them in action, I think the Planar Champion is a little on the powerful side because he gets good skills, two good saves, the best attack bonus, d10 HD, AND a cool ability every level, but I've seen much worse.
