Planescape - Dead God Rising: [Combat Thread]

Noch

Since he was not willing to slit the throat of another man, Noch decides that he's earned the blunt pummel ends of his weapons, intercepts the fleeing man, and goes for subdual damage.

Got an 18 with the short sword, 13 with the kukri.

Since shadowsyfts are quite... swyft, you reach him effortlessly not far from the trapdoor and the cowering skeletons

the man falls down to the floor, his hands grasping for his back in the moments before he falls unconcious.

OOC: there is still just under a minute to take care of the skeletons.

Noch's blades and bolts aren't the best against skeletons. That sounds like a monk job. He'll keep to searching his latest victim, tying him up with his own boot laces, and keeping an eye on the other humanoids.

Tyrjon

Tyrjon smiles at the cooridinated effort paying off, moving towards the nearest skeleton with a gleam in his eye. From seemingly well beyond his reach, his blade thrusts towards the closest skeleton, igniting in stream of flame towards it.

[sblock]I forgot to mention this earlier but I think you may have forgotten my miss chance again in the skeleton attack Nalf as they attacked before Tyrjon's init came up. ;)

Also, since the skeletons attacked, then fled, shouldn't we have gotten AoO upon them when they did so? (I don't have the book handy so I may be misrembering the D&D rules for it).

Move action: Move to within 10ft of skeletons activating the child of shadow stance.
Swift action: Activate the Burning Brand (Damage is now all fire based and reach increases to 10 ft for 1 round).
Standard action:
- Attack a skeleton: 16
- Damage if hit: 14

*Note that with the extra reach this round he could be entitled to AoO from any movement.[/sblock]

Curse your shadows!!! :)
the attack does, in fact, hit home

Your attack hits, and the heavy blade shatters the skeletons' spine, wreathing it in dark flames as it falls to the ground in a heap of tattered skin and bones

OOC: the skeletons are meant to flee in their round... I have checked the rules and I cant see snywhere that says they flee in the turners round. I've always ruled that they begin fleeing in their own turn (since doing so now would effectviely mean an extra move where there should be none). If i am missing something, please correct me. The reference to them being near the trapdoor in post 62 was my mistake... thinking ahead

Llyra

Llyra will move towards the prisoners in an effort to keep them calm, motioning Kyran to help her, since the foes are already well taken care of, and since he has such a calming presence. On the way she nods her approval towards Rubious for the power he exerted over the undead.

OOC: When should we move back to the regular thread?

And one thing... maybe we could figure out a way to keep this (combat, that is) a little easier to follow. It's currently a patchwork of bits and pieces in all the posts here... some sort of overview of each round or somesuch would be great, if that is doable. :D

Maybe you can post some sort of round's summary after each round in the IC thread, which isn't used during combat, except by yourself then... this way we would have everything in proper order there and the whole combat post mess is back here in the combat thread, where it doesn't bother anyone reading the IC thread. And you can still resolve every action seperately, which you seem to prefer. Otherwise, the combat scenes would also be missing from IC, somehow; the IC would look like one of those censored action movies, where half of the scenes are cut.

OOC: words of wisdom from an infinately more experienced PbP'er. :) since combats change with every ation i dont like the idea of saying what a character will do before the chance comes round - who knows what can change in that time? I like the end-of-round cover in the IC thread, which would give more coherence to it all.

I have posted a vague roundup in the IC thread, followed by Rubious's next 'action'

Tyrjon

Jema holds her staff out to Tyrjon, "Your chiv will not work so well against those with nothing to cut."
Tyjon raises an approving eybrow as he sheathes his sword and grabs hold of Jema's quarterstaff.

"Nice."

Spinning it once in his hand to guage the weight, Tyrjon steps forward and an emerald aura surrounds the staff as he raises it to strike.

"Be with ya in a minute Rubious."

[sblock]I'm posting my action now as I'm guessing there's just a few of left on mop up duty. ;)

Free Action?: Hand-off with the staff.
Move Action: Sheath sword.
Standard Action: Free 5 ft move to close to one of the remaining skeletons and attack with the Emerald Razor Strike (touch attack to hit).

Hmm... can't seem to get onto IC. Feel free to make my attack for me Nalf if you can get on their site.

Thanks.[/sblock]

OOC: Hmm... interesting stuff. Let's hope its not permanent. Ill use my (t)rusty d20's then :)
(there's little difference between a touch attack and a normal attack here, unfortunately) but the attack hits (13 total) for 7 points of damage, knocking the puny skeleton down with little if any resistance.

Only one left We can move to the IC thread now (1 skeleton is not worthy of the Combat Thread :p
